Thursday December 19th  the day before Solstice Eve.   I am an "eve" person.  that's when stuff happens for me.  the "day Of",  i just stand and LOOK.   New Year's eve,  Solstice eve.  so, with tomorrow eve in mind,  i go out to take a look at how things stand Out There.  and somewhere in my mind those words….."I am always behind"….are mumbling .   And as i do, really, just a few things, like move those 5 cement blocks,  stuff the gray water hose under the house,  rake some,   put the new feed/water tubs in the 2nd doe pen,  inbetween all that feeding some peanuts in the shell to my Friends,  it occured to me to wonder…Behind What?  What am i always behind?????

and yes,  this does look a little uhhhh,  unkempt,

IMG_7664g

but really, all i have to do is change my Point of VIEW a little,  and it's ok.  Not like New Mexico Magazine photo shoot,  but…ok and ok enough.

IMG_7669f

even here, by the horse trailer.  it's ok.  from efforts a few weeks ago.  good enough.

So…what exactly am I behind?  and i have no good answer.  i am pretty much ok.  there is always a never ending occurance of things needing to be done Out There,  not to mention In Here,  and not to mention Cloth that wants to come into being,  but really,  i realize,  it's just all going along as it Can.   so i have a different View of Just Going tonight.  a lighter View,  a View with a happy hum.

and i have some very nice weed piles and if WIND stays over behind the Rim,  tomorrow Eve  i will burn them.

and set the hose to drip in the Magnificant Compost.

and i moved the Child Buddha from the Diamond Garden over here,  to the Raft for the next couple or few days,  or longer.

oh lordy. do you say that? lordy? who says that? it’s not a phrase i usually think of using–but when i read this post, looked carefully at all the pictures, all i could think was “oh, lordy, Grace. this is just the cat’s pajamas.” and the artifacts on the raft. is that a skull or a rock?
whatever it is, it reminded me that i have a fresh deer skin in my basement. and antlers. i have no idea why, but my daughter had a client who brought them to her for me. makes me wonder what daughter must have told him. a deer skin? a fresh deer skin? and it has to be cured or whatever you do with hide. i

i say lordy a lot. are y’all from the south?
    anyway —
    i love these images.
like a beautiful movie set –but in real life.
that shift –my list is always so long–in how one thinks about it.
& in the twinkling of an eye –it’s no big deal.
    whoever said–
when we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.
    i think they literally do.

yes. i say oh lordy. i don’t know why either. sometimes
it’s just the right thing to say.
the “artifact” you see on the raft that might be a skull
    or might be a rock
i a limestone rock that Marti and her husband brought me
the first time i met her. they were driving through.
and over these years, she will know how many, i am not
good at numbers/time keeping, but over the years, WIND
here has changed it to an almost unrecognizable form.
many many years ago, my First Mentor, Kay, who i still
talk to like it was just yesterday, called me. on her
way home she saw a carcass of a deer thrown by the side
of the road in a ditch. Could i come. so i did. and
we loaded it up in my old Econoline van Fern and drove
it into the Way Back at her house and spent some hours
bringing it up as high as we could into a tree. Securing it there. for the Elements and Creatures to Work. i don’t remember what became of it. i’ll have to ask her.
you can cure it. look on line.
i also used to study with Sun Bear. you can look him up
…Google… he stressed that Everything must be used.
You have work to do. it was given to you as a gift.

    hey Judy!!!
    and Anias Nin said…
    “Everything was different
and nothing changed but my mind”
    or something like that.
    Oh Lordy.
from the south, no, but was raised with Southern Baptist.
but i don’t remember anyone saying that.
sometimes it’s just all anyone can say

My grandmother was a Southern Baptist and said it all the time. The more intense things were the more times she would repeat it. “Lordy Lordy Lordy.” I say it too.
I love your yard. Yeah messy, but heck you’re out in the country. Thanks for the thoughts on being behind. Maybe we say that to drive ourselves crazy. Ha ha.

i think it’s how it just IS when you live a little
wild. there’s not a lot to be done, but just keep
going. There are things in really need to be doing
about the Goats, but even them, they are just OK.
    so…we go.
and WHY WOUlD WE LIKE TO DRIVE OURSELVES CRAZY?????????????

and Deb…(a question to my self)…how many times do we
need to find ourselves inside someone else’s words
    before
    we find outselves
    in our own lives
    in our own selves??????????????????????????????

I always feel very BEHIND, and then I realize I am comparing myself to my Dad who always does things on time or before. I do things IN time, that is just before they need to be. Like snow poles, or putting things under cover for winter. And I remember, he always has help. Pool guy comes, cleaning ladies come, gardener comes. He does a lot, too, but here, its me doing it all. So, I get the important things done JUSt in the nick of time. I’m learning to be OK with that.
Oh lordy, I don’t say it, but I like it!

My Aunt Anna use to say “Saints preserve us” as though it were one word. Sometimes my Aunt Mary said “Jaysus, Mary n’ blessed Joseph” to exclaim over what ever came next. The ‘a’ in Mary was a hard ‘a’, and drawn out to sound like two syllables. I’ve heard Lordy pronounced “Lawdy” more often than not…very Southern. As for being behind oneself, I think it’s rather like being beside oneself–off center.

rock salt flesh side, after getting all the “stuff” off – roll it up and fasten like a package. that will hold it until you can get it tanned or whatever. makes lovely stuff, Sundance Dress for instance.

you may be “behind”, but I see it as “stuff to look forward to”, just waitin’ patiently or not! Warm heart-full wishes for your Solstice – full of lovely soup, happy goats, warm feet, and all good things!

Just wanted to take this eve time opportunity to thank you, dear Grace. And all the cloth mates really… You have brought such richness to my life this past year. I love knowing you are out there in various locations on the earth. Stitching and thinking deep thoughts. Seeing in ways that others do not. Knowing. Loving. Sharing. Thank you.
