I used to love hanging my laundry out to dry! My laundry items seemed to last longer by not taking a “beating” in the dryer, it smelled fabulous, and for cloth diapers and other cotton items, seemed to bleach out a lot of stains. I used to muse that the sun and outdoor air penetrated the fabrics with all sorts of good “sun vitamins”. Sleeping on or under sheets hung out to dry ~ heavenly! Heavy lifting of wet laundry tiring and tiresome at times for sure. For a long time I had a wringer washer, which squished a lot of moisture out of clothing, sheets, towels. My Mother and grama had a mangle for sheets – great task for “offspring”!
I still love hanging sheets and blankets to dry in the sun – my clothes line is gone, so the fence works just fine! My neighbors goats come to visit when I am flinging stuff on the fence, which is delightful.
Your laundry on the lines, and trees, is beautiful to see – a real achievement, Grace!

I have a dryer that I use for two minutes to tumble the folds out of my wash, then everything (even sheets and towels) gets hung on wooden drying racks that must be thirty years old if they’re a day … I wish I could hang stuff outside, but we both have allergies and Texas has pollen of one kind or another year round … still, as LaceLady says, things last so much longer when air-dried, and even when dried inside they feel so wonderfully crisp and clean

Your business Grace puts me to shame .. just imagining carrying the wet laundry and then hanging it all makes me tired. I’ll be the first to admit I should do more physically ..

If you are talking about dryer cycles, my two year old dryer was taking forever to dry a load. Jake pulled it out and found that the vent pipe was almost fully clogged with thick wet lint. A fire hazard in the making.
    I miss my outside line.
