there are many Bells. I sat with them today. Rang them. Almost all of them hung in New Mexico. This one hangs low in the Morning Tree, the House Oak. The Goats go under and ring it.

Oh this is a really special bell. How does it sound? Deep?
My ears are so sensitive, I need deeper tones. Higer tones make me cringe. Ouch. I love that the goats ring it.
Do you remember Deb G’s post from a long while back…the one in her home, that her dad made? I loved her idea of ringing the bell as she comes in to re-center herself to being ‘home’, to let go of the day out (work etc). I’ve been obsessed with this idea ever since. Wherever I go, I keep my eyes open for bells, ones with deep tones and a decent price tag. No luck yet, but I am patient. One day I will have a bell to ring when I walk in at the day’s end…one that says you are home, you are home.
Thank you for sharing yours.LikeLike

Thanks for bringing Deb G’s ritual Nancy; it is a wonderful way to honor the day and coming home.
When we lived in Maui, we had a set of bamboo wind chimes that made a soft, subtle clanging sound, quite lovely to hear. Most afternoons, we would have tropical trade winds so the chimes “sang” for us.They came with our rental home so I did not own them.
Many years later, when we came to New Mexico to meet grace and visit our nephew, I fell in love with a small, ceramic New Mexico Kokopelli bell. I purchased it to commemorate our getting together with grace. It has hung outdoors on pear and apple trees but my favorite place to hang it is in the kitchen. Since it is a small bell, the clay is of medium thickness and the bell sound is a medium range clang, not as musical as our Maui bamboo chimes but pleasant none the less. Our grand kids have loved ringing it for every meal, including snack time! It’s a wonder it still is intact…The bell is painted a soft orange and rust, the word New Mexico is all around the bottom as are dancing black painted Kokopellies.LikeLike
