finished before, led to Continuing. but i think now, it's
finished. it has become quiet.
the white piece has been removed.
Learned: an image in my mind does NOT need complete reproduction
on a cloth. i am working toward making things Others might
connect to and they don't think with My mind and to continue
to try to make something "stand to reason", is not necessary.
Learned: i still don't know how to work with the silk gauze (the Sunrise).

Hi Grace, I know what you mean about the silk gauze. Ive been collecting fine silk bits for a long time now. Im hoping to overdye some with the lichen Ive been collecting and some eucalypt material. But its not so easy to work with….Stitching with silk thread helps.

I love the sunrise. It looks wonderful peeking up over the hills in the background. I like this backing better than the light one… but Im wondering what it might look like with a background the color of the tree branch. I LOVE the layers and folds on the pieces you did yesterday. I just dont think this particular piece looks as good on it. But, I cant wait to see what you choose to go with it though.HuGGs!Debi

Grace,When I made my buttefly in the beast class I used some gauze silk and did tiny, single thread, invisible basting stitch to anchor it. The folding (rimpling) of the gauze makes it easier to hide the tiny stitches, I tended to put the stitches perhaps closer than I would on cotton or linen, and there doesnt seem to be issues of snagging, etc. If you think this is not easy wait until you try sleek, slippery silk. Ha!

Hi Grace…I like the sunrise and how it is fanning out…not sure what you dont like about it…one thing Ive been doing with that gauzy silk is wee tiny basting from behind…I cant quite enlarge it enough to see close enough, but that helps tame it a little. Meanwhile, to me, the piece as a whole is very intriguing with space enough to allow for wondering (wandering?)…

Hi Grace, do ever have to consider a piece finished? Perhaps she has no more to say at the moment, but keep your ears open.

Hi Grace, I have been reading your posts as you put this piece together but it has only now grabbed my interest. The branch in the foreground brings it all into perspective and focuses my attention on the person in the middle. Is it finished? There is vacant areas on the frame which I suspect a la Jude would have something in them! However I think it is now nicely balanced , I like space to breath.See yah liz
