i think it is battenburg lace.the ‘tape’ is made and then needlelace is done to hold the tape in its place. i am working on a tape lace pear right now and will do needlelace in the center. here’s some more info, if you’re interested: http://lace.lacefairy.com/Lace/ID/TapeID.html

It’s Battenburg lace. I had a love affair with this lace about 20 years ago. I couldn’t get enough examples of it to satisfy me. In the meantime, I’ve collected some luscious antique laces that I take out and fondle from time to time. One of these days I’m going to bite the bullet and incorporate them into something so I can enjoy them all the time. Just haven’t figured out how to yet.

yes…i found that, but also, when i adjust it down to
medium which i have been, the closeups are blurry…so
when i just left it how it came through from picasa, this
    close up is clear….
i will just need to learn when to do either…
    THANKS…

Yes, Thanks Deanna, I’m going there too. I’ve sat on this machine all day (almost) just researching cloth and history’s etc. fun, but a guilty pleasure.

Martine…the little dancing goats truly are just that. she has
5 pregnant does. Come march, there will be an entire ballet
company…each doe can birth 2-4 kids. 3 is the average….!
on their second day of life, they dance.
