001
so here is the linen shirt, one of them, but this is THE one…

nance wondered if it is shot linen.  i think it might be.  learning.

shot or not, it is overflowing with potential.  will need to make what i think i remember are called raglan sleeves?  i am a small skinny person, this is an ample shirt.  but i also very much like loose jackets.  and then there is the collar…it might "go"….

if i go through with re-organizing this shirt into the Traveling Jacket, it will be a first in many years of being committed to hooded zip sweatshirts.  as i am going forward, i seem to be going back….???

I love the color… and I have a lot of “Flax” clothing in my closet. Being an ample person, I love the drape and flow… though I, too, sometimes can do without the collar. Wonder how it will transform….

isn’t the color amazing? it has almost an amberpeach
    running through it…giving it a glow…
What if i indigo boro’d the rim where i take off the
collar?, or, even a piece where the shoulders are
revised????? oh sigh. and a lining. what about a
    lining.
had said to Deb G on her blog that the Traveling Jacket
would need an inside pocket…and wouldn’t you know it,
    this already HAS one!

I love the idea of an indigo addition, the two colors would really sing together!

this has pants too, that go with it. but for a more
voluptuous woman than me. and a short sleeved shirt.
i feel guilty cutting it up. but from knowing my Thrift
Shop, no one would want it. hmmmmm

Hi Grace! I am so excited this adventure will include some clothing. I have a shirt of my own in mind to mend from what I learn during Jude’s workshop. I am so glad we will be in on it together.
Am enjoying seeing what you have been up to – the perfect light in the curtain and the little goat. and loving the couple of glimpses of your photo clipping collection…

I’ve taken off collars on alot of tops and then just bind the edge. Glennis had some shibori cotton ribbon stuff (see bottom of the wristlet I made her on her blog) that would work great to incase the neck hole. My mind is blank right now, and I should know the name of that ribbon, cause it’s not ribbon in the sense that one thinks of it.Any whooo great jacket and I love the “Flax” label in it. Wonderful piece to work with.

I love this jacket, but now I’m getting nervous. Do we have to sew? I have clothes to mend … a couple of linen shirts with little worn holes, but i have no idea how to redo something like this jacket. i think this class is making me a little nervous. I have never wanted to make anything too big..
oh i always get like this before I start something new. glad i have all of you guys to help me through. glad you are along, grace..

susan…yes…we work together! it will be quite
something, this gathering of women, i’m sure.
i wish i could “come over” and bring my clipping
collection. i love it a lot and there’s not much of
a way to share it, really.
so, here we go soon. it’s 6:30 here and i am on the
edge of my seat waiting for jude to post the first
    lesson…oooooooo….anticipation………~
    xoxo to you

yes…i do love the class. and now it’s me that’s
    scared…as i’ve said before, i don’t think i HAVE a
Left Brain. in think that whole hemisphere is just
kind of a closet for a very almost overactive Right
Brain. but then, since last May with the first class
of jude’s, everytime something has arisen that is
outside my comfort zone and everytime i have just
trusted and gone forward with trying, i have been
totally and completely amazed with what has happened.
    so….faking it. Hey ho!
let’s see where it takes us……………
