maybe, the place for both these beauty~ Full pieces of silk?

the muslin piece was woven on a stretched canvas.  tea dyed during the night and seeming to just "want" to be woven this way.  so soft, fluid, gentle it is…and as i was photographing it, i saw atop the basket under neath the two pieces of silk that have been waiting.

the first pictured is hapazome from Kaite, kaiteyarngarden

the second from Heike, gerdiary

both these silk pieces so fine and elegant,  but to me,  rest perfectly on this woven torn muslin.  i will make them each one of their own.  this first will be to experiment with…a neutral ground for so many possibilities whirling in my mind.

HAPPY!

really like this. I especially love the blue-it seems to have a shadow or reflection happening in the bottom right hand corner. oh wait! just enlarged it & see that it’s loose threads- but they’re lovely there…maybe some tiny blue stitches could replace them if they leave…I’m going to find my glasses.

cindy…isn’t that great? i saw the blue too and that’s
the kind of thing that leads the way…
i will make another muslin ground for both of these
silk pieces, but loved that i finally know how i can
put them….had thought about other things but they
    were not It.
this particular weave i will keep as is. will use to
teach me what all can happen. i am so just learning
and can barely stand myself ….

grace you could rip up the hapazome and weave with it into the muslin, that could be very “watery”. your muslin reminds me of a waterfall even when plain. k.

i will weave her in another way, you’ll see. don’t know yet, but
i am very excited about the feeling of it.
i am happy that you see it all here at this point. is very
    important to me.

I’ve been away and can see lots of catching up to do! The loom weaving looks amazing. I think I had better do some homework today. Sorry to hear you had frozen pipes. That can be a disaster up here in the snowy north.

I love your piece as is!!! When i read “hapazome”, it brought memories and right away took a piece of muslin and had roses (sent for my birthday) and started hammering them in the cloth, seems is working! have to read India Flint’s book to see what is next to do.

Hello Grace, it’s taken me a while to get over to your blog but it’s lovely, your muslin with those fine silks lying there in their finery. I have been away so have only just started on the “loom” weaving. It feels so different, I want to try all sorts of fabrics but I haven’t quite got the proper feel in my hands; too tired from driving probably but I will try to catch up. I am glad you are loving it, your happiness is infectious.

Oh and your house – is everything ok? Too busy rambling on about myself, that was the first thing I meant to ask!

i read in India’s book that the rose petals have to be frozen and then used, so probably have to start again, although i will keep the bundle in water longer, my birthday was Jan. 21, Aquarius! when is yours?

I love the “HAPPY”, at the end of this post. I bought some fabrics from Gillian. I find them so precious that I am having a hard time cutting into them…I need to get over that.
I love, love, your muslin weave…the grid is wonderful and full of possibilities.

Weaving, wind, boro cloth, cloth for art, cloth for utility, cloth because fingers must do, cloth because stories must be told of the land, of our lives, cloth for hope.
Those of you who have been reading windthread for a while know that our windthread lady created some amazing powerful poignant cloths that flew a while ago to the land of children who need hope.
grace didn’t just stitch stories; didn’t just kantha curtains, didn’t just gather material. She looked into her huge heart and pulled out healing, hope, harmony, love, and light. And in the cloths, surprise talismans, bits and pieces of wonder and meaning.
Cloth has always existed; cloth makers have always existed, the magic and power of cloth has always been and will always be, no matter in what form, no matter how many years one has experienced cloth, no matter how recent one comes to cloth. grace does not know that I am writing this; she would ask me not to but you who love her work, who have come to know her, must see this:

hi! robyn…i am sorry that it is just now i am answering
this…the elec. situation really threw me for a loop!
thank you for visiting and also, my “broken record”
continuous thought that if we all have blogs, we are
better able to continue on with one anothers cloth works
    once the class is over…..hint.
