 a significant day.

the Raven was stitched during the Spirit Cloth Workshop

the weaving of the ground in Cloth to Cloth

the denim 9 patches in Cloth to Cloth

the 9 patches have been on the windows since,   the Raven in the drawer.

last night, after judes most recent lesson and video, i decided what i was going to work on putting together.  this morning, i woke before light and found the Raven with a flashlight, took down the four 9 patches and everything has changed.  not the original plan.  but then, what often IS?

i want to make cloths for windows.  not curtains, but "Window Hangers" as Wendy's children call them.  i want to make story cloth for windows.

this is all i know right now.

the above is a difficult and unlikely combination.  i cannot make it stand to reason.  but it is what i will teach myself something with right now.  it is uncomfortable to put it mildly.

Grace, the work you’ve done on the raven is incredible I hope you settle all into it and figure out your story as I think this is one of your best pieces so far. I also like the piece of colored cloth to the left and then in the next frame above I no longer see it.???The idea of the window story cloths is a wonderful idea! as the catch phrase a few years back was …”You go girl!!” 🙂

Forgot to mention that the lighting in the top frame makes the piece look transparent almost like a pagjori cloth.

Perhaps the magic of Raven is pulling you out of your comfort zone and into that mysterious creative place where the unknown lives. In some cultures Raven signifies that you are about to experience a change in consciousness…..and there is no way to figure any of this out! It is a gift from Spirit.

Ahhhh, the RAven again. I love that Raven – love the differences in the legs, and that I can hear the calling.

Grace! I hope this doesn’t run contrary to your feelings about this piece, but I selfishly have to share. This raven is so alive and full of purpose- when I saw him/her over at CWB I was immediately reminded of a crow my mom nursed back to health when I was four (he had been shot). He stayed in our kitchen on the farm; he was never tame, never a pet, we treated him like he was an old visiting grandfather! He kind of scared me (especially the day he started flying around) but we are all thrilled by him. This Raven is that Crow, on his way. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for reminding me of something I had completely forgotten Grace!

wendy…scarey. yes they ARE and should be. very
    intense beings.
i too knew a crow as a child.
i watch a single raven now. there are no trees here
tall enough to receive him. but he flies over. tilting
    his wings…i call to him.

Thanks for reading my story Grace; your ravens, both on the wing and in thread, are dear to my heart now for reminding me of this. Thank you so much for this.
