melt the snow to imagine this…, ordinarily Chico, Redbluff  do not have snow, but there are hills and mountain oak.  this shelter would sit well, way back on the acres.   and it IS true, that i could build it,  or not.  maybe i have already built it in my mind.  that very well could be just enough.

looks like it started out as a tent and they changed their mind.
that pandora-sphinx is amazing in that photo. as though it can appear and disappear at will.

yes i can. the question will be, do i NEED to.
    ….??????????????????????
she will be looking, in these next 4 days at land there.
in the areas we are interested in, there are many 7, 10
acre parcels. this shelter could easily be tucked away
    at the back. hmmmmmm.

…a Yurt. Manya will love this when she sees it.
and how just so amazing it all is. it actually looks
almost identical to the yurt i was going to put on my
friend’s 40 acreas in Oregon, when i first left Michigan.
had things all set to dismantle and then re build one
and then her husband informed her he wanted a divorce.
    which meant, sell the property.
    so…the yurt deferred.
the moth is one of the Hummingbird ones….her wings
amazing enough in a bird, but in a moth…
i kept trying to get her to light on my hand, but she
just brushed me away…the focus of her total being was
in those blossoms and those blossoms only.
    i love her striped body

    yes…
it is the quality of yesterday and on into today. a dream like
quality. and i just watched the first Whispering Hearts which
only adds to it…like it is a level of reality that is just
floating above the surface of where the soles of my feet feel
    the earth.

i haven’t seen a yurt with poles shaped that way. the bottom part of the building does take the form of a yurt. i was in NYC when the Cooper-Hewitt museum had an exhibit of a yurt. traditionally made with a felt exterior, they constructed the whole exterior of felt and it surrounded part of the museum. it was magnificent. there are several you-tube videos that show pieces of the construction and the finished yurt. i would have loved to spend the night.

It looks like a yurt design from the guy in Maine who built yurts for Helen Nearing:
I quite LOVE this first one… Helen’s yurt.

I like these a LOT! Thought about building one for my new studio/workshop space, but the grant funds are limited… I think it will be a rectangle, but it will be magical, just the same!

I dream of building a round house with cob or something like that. Maybe someday… Need is a big part of the question. 🙂

    Deb..need. yes. need/desire. so much.
daughter has studied all this and ended up wanting to
do a rammed earth brick building here. but…it didn’t
    work out that way.
once she is in N.Cal she will decide again. the straw
bale, cob, rammed earth…whatever is most available
where she ends up. she has reams of plans on her
computer. there is one that i look at off and on.
it’s a U shape. i would have the one leg of the U
    inverted…
but really, Who Knows. one of the pieces of land we looked
at was 40 acres that butted up against National Forrest.
this would be the greatest. room for literally
    anything
How strange to me, to be walking backward almost, thinking
about things i’d not thought of in maybe 20 years and
thinking about them in concert with her.
this pic of the yurtish shelter is a zen retreat space
    in Colorado.
one of the web sites she loves is a woman in southern
Oregon…right at the border, who has an Airstream for
guests. i have the airstream here. the one i used to
live in. five years. have many times said i am going to
get rid of it, she has always said…no…not yet.
    oh
    who knows
    who knows
    who knows

deanna…there are so many variations. i really like
the poles sticking up/out. when i was in Oregon, there
was great HEART for alternative spaces. the one i’d
thought i’d have had a hand hammered copper sink. it
    was amazing.
also…love the traditional wool felted ones.
but you create what makes sense where you find yourself.
OR you create only in your Mind. which is where i find
myself a lot. maybe that’s enough. as Deb said..Need.

I remember visiting you in Oregon on that property and again in first place in New Mexico with the airstream. Also remember talk of the yurts and I think it was sheep then rather than goats maybe. Yes, cycling ’round again, backwards and forwards. Very exciting.
