late evening call from Red Bluff, California.  Julian in the background, calling room service in a motel that does not have cooties.  Everyone is HAPPY.

she says that even Red Bluff, that we imagined to be kind of uhhh….blah, is very beautiful.  she says that every where is more beautiful than we had seen on the real estate images.  it's

pretty

tomorrow they look in earnest.

it’s really interesting. we have been surprised by the pervasive
quality that almost all the real estate pics LACK…almost NO one
takes pics of what GROWS there. there was one place that i loved
because they showed a little bed of iris. we want to know what
native grasses grow there, what bushes, scrub. that one that
mentioned eucalyptus was great. it sold pretty quick and my guess
is that might be the selling point???? a dyer.
anyway….she had to SEE it. it’s happening.

I haven’t been on the computer since last Thursday because of company and reading through your posts was like reading a little novel.Much enjoyed, and, as always, love the photos of your land it always makes me happy.

thanks for saying that, helen. sometimes i feel like
    it might be boring.
it’s funny, the other evening i thought, as i took the
ash bucket from the wood stove out to where it sits to
wait till cooling and being dumped…i though that i
could live here if i were blind. i am so familiar with
it all….all the little paths to here and there that
make a life here…i know them by heart. oh jeez….
    “by heart”….

Grace, I’ve fallen behind in my blog-reading, but I’m so happy to learn that Red Bluff is being looked at! I haven’t been there in a long time, but it was beautiful beautiful then…had a good feeling to it, at least to one just passing through. Thank you for keeping us posted on this adventure. I think you will grow to like California…it has many layers and good hearts! I also know it is not easy to leave the familiar…
