it came.  the eco dye pieces i ordered from Arlee

004
and further,  two other surprises…a gift of a leaf moon enclosed  AND  look! at the beautiful stamps on her envelope.  this moon is just magical…a perfect moon for my            need            .  leaf moon.  the 3 fabric pieces are just as i'd hoped…just so so great.  THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!  Arlee for performing this  gift of dyeing…you have the gift            and i am so happy to have this cloth to work with.   005

and then Alzheimer's B and i finished cleaning out her closets of almost all her clothing that no longer fits,   which i took to the Thrift Shop          except for this006
and when i got it home i thought      Oh jeez, grace.  this is a HUGE skirt with yards and yards of fabric.  why!!!!!!  but then,   this morning i cut off a strip…very thin…maybe  a half inch?  and then ripped that in two and as i was sitting in my "morning chair", noticed a threaded needle nearby

001
there was the collar of the linen shirt lying there too and i thought, why not.  first a strip of the right side and then turned on the wrong…..and as Jude's post was titled,  A Little Romance on Friday….well, this was for sure a little romance on saturday….i am completely in love.

I love the title of this post…. and, not sure why it was odd, but it surely does seem to have offered you much beauty!

arlee’s cloth is truly magical. i, too, love getting special stamps. i always save them. i get the special issue stamps from the post office hoping i will make someone’s day when they receive my mail.
i love being able to see, close up, what you did with the cloth from the skirt—all the threads trying to escape their woven pattern.

yes very romantic… what will you do with the rest of it? will you wear some of the skirt or will it all be for projects?

no…that’s no longer “me”…that skirt. would you like
    some????? would anyone like some????
there are maybe 7 billion lifetimes of hand stitching
fragments. it’s a very common cloth..i remember making
jenny a little dress of it (but different colors of the
    design..more turquoise? i think?) anyway…a very
common print from the early 70’s.
the surprise came in how beautifully it Tore…all those
    wisps…had not expected that

i’m not sure why it was odd either, but it was. nothing
seemed grounded. things that were supposed to happen
    didn’t, things that i didn’t expect, did. Friday, i
never DID get a sense of the day…it seemed like just
a space, morning till time to lay down on the bed…
much of it i suppose is the continuing, ever present
WIND. and by wind, i don’t mean strong breeze that i
love so much with gusts. this is what i notice is recently referred to as straight line wind. just this
constant thing. a little crazy making.

yes…Arlee’s cloth. it is VERY VERY fine. the softness
of the cotton is much appreciated. the marks from her
placement of things are clear and very evocative. it is
exactly what i’d wished for someone to create.

Beautiful, beautiful fabric that tells a story. And the tear is a very tender one.
