001

just finished going around all of it, snipping off loosened threads.

NOTHING came loose.  nothing frayed into oblivion.    just as Jude said somewhere, long ago,  the threads loosen to a point and then if anything, merge even more into the single Cloth.   it is strong.

I love this point in the project. Now is where I’ll sit down with needle and thread and see where just a little help is needed, the handling loving and easing everything back to relaxed. Sleep with it tonight.

deb…do you see the little oh so elegant fragment on the right?
green? i need to take a seperate pic of it. i just can’t look at
it enough. it’s from one of the first pieces i got from you and
some of it has been in almost everything i’ve made. it was the
first that i was compelled to stitch on as i was going along; first of the mosaic scraps that will be added here and there somehow. it’s been there all along, to help me envision how it can go.
    ~thank you~

i am going to ask It for some magic today.
there is a blue house on 9.8 acres in N. Cal. it is
    steep land. very wooded.
if there is enough of that 9.8 acres that is slightly
sloping, or even modestly sloping, say maybe
2 acres…1 1/2? it would be perfect for goats, for a
    goat dog.
there is a large loft room with glass doors that go out
onto a deck. the room is very light filled with large
    blank walls.

i can just feel the texture of this piece from the photo. the comfort is exuding from it. how i wish i could just touch it. i’m melting into softness.

it looks lovely grace, you’ve done well.
and 9.8 acres? i thought you were looking for 98.8 acres, the goats won’t mind how steep it is. that room sounds magical.

There are checks and balances for everything perhaps? I’ll wish on a star for you regarding the property… P.S. Got a copy of The Resilient Gardener from the library today. Just started looking through but I’m finding some great info!

    98.8 don’t we wish. no…this goats won’t mind. but
the humans that care for them might.
the room is a very good room.

Excellent!!..Resilient Gardner….i began it, then got
waylaid by the stitching, but i really find her thoughts
work for me…some of it is the pragmatic info but what
i am finding most important is the almost incidental
    bits and pieces….
looking forward to an exchange about this in the near
    future…….

youll need good fences – that could be expensive,
unless you have them on a running lead. i had one many years ago on a
    running lead.

It looks as if it very much enjoyed its adventure in the machine. It always amazes me how robust cloth can be.

i stood there, deciding, and finally chose Normal
thinking might as well find out now. watched it tumble
and slosh through the little round porthole window.
i also added just a bit of Tide.

it is still a surprise to me to realize i will “end up”
in California. i never would have imagined.
have you spent any time in northern parts????? i am
still looking for any info people might have.

fences. yes. she has been doing this for 3 years here,
getting it just right so has a lot of experience in what
works and what doesn’t. i think she will end up taking
8 does and the 3 bucks. they have been very carefully
chosen for the purpose of good Dairy. There is an
active and good Dairy Goat Assoc. near and will need to
be a support system for her till she gets organized.
it’s a HUGE undertaking, but for her, goats are Cloth.

    cloth thats alive and jumps!
i used to take my goat for a walk every afternoon, with
the dogs and the cat, she used to jump up the road.
goat took a shine to one of the dogs and went
everywhere with him, even tried a spot of rabbiting!

one of the things that uhhhh, strengthens the resolve
for this in my own mind is imagining what it might be
like to explore whole new territory. it’s a very different world there. i spent all my early years in
the midwest. then, some in Oregon/Arizona and now
    in N Mex. everything that
    grows
will be different there. this is very exciting.

Cindy…that is so validating for me..like your Soft Sheet.
yes. it IS similar, as i imagine yours.
this house…well…it’s just a symbol. no one is
particularly interested in the house itself, really.
funny. can’t seem to make that make sense to the Real
Estate guy. it’s the land. what A house does, is make
the land mortgagable. just land, isn’t. also what the
house does is make it make just even a little sense to
her TightWad Dad who is a golf course kind of guy.
but the house does seem ok. two bedrooms downstairs.
that loft. two decks. one functioning bathroom which is
good enough. two “living” rooms. one with a pellet stove
we think (not wood). room to
    add on.
there are many ideas. daughter and granddaughter have
always talked about having space for children who are
needing SPACE. there is talk now and then about a place
for Women. to wander. to imagine.
    might be it.
    Who Knows.
