i found these two shreds on the floor….they had been layered together, but had separated and twisted.    a butterfly!, i thought….and remembered the little fragment/wisp star Jude showed us in Sun Moon Stars.   so it was really just the butterfly i wanted to make, but it was pretty much just threads all coming loose so needed a place to be sewn to.    am not sure what my point is here, yet.  maybe i don't have one.  but just wanted to remember this moment, how it happened.001

What a splendid little dancin’ butterfly! The story of the moth and the butterfly…sounds like a children’s book! Ha! All of the conversations and thoughts about why and theme and symbol and shape and color…and context too…they are all wonderful and necessary and good deep ponderings…
But sometimes it is so nice to have a little butterfly just come happily along…and to embrace that little being and that moment and maybe not even stop to ask why, but instead to hold that creature, that moment gently in your hands as the treasure that it is.
I love those moments, don’t you?!

When ever I spot a butterfly in the garden, I am always surprised and grateful. Your butterfly flew to you to be memorialized in cloth. Serendipity, chance, whatever, it is a gift.

I’ve been off line for about 8 days so trying to catch up, I tried to comment on one of your posts but had a hell of a time. Is it my AT&T server? Wind? So this is basically a “test” for me. thanks, Grace. Hope all is well.

love your butterfly and loved your toad on an earlier post .. And thank you for the nice words you wrote on my blog. I guess there is no denying that I am absolutely fascinated with the things that I see in my own back yard. Today in fact I found several things that I took photos of. One was a red spotted salamander .. pretty kewl looking .. and then tonight a teeny tiny white moth .. it was crawling on my skin when I was getting ready to get in the shower lol .. so i took a bizillion photos of it. I’ll post them all soon!!! 🙂 thanks for stopping over ..

This butterfly reminds me of your moon moth. It has a sense of aliveness to it. I think it is meaningful that you see creatures that fly in bits of cloth. Especially at this place in your life.

it would, because the scraps so clearly presented themselves as
Moth and as Butterfly… both being Wings and Movement
they were just There. all i had to do was stitch them down.
and the last sentence….can you say more? it’s very interesting to
    me….
