here is the Other side

001

two reasons for not backing.  the first was wanting it to remain so thin.

the second,  Look at the disorder of the stitching…how there was no Plan, how it just all went as it would…some backtracking.   i like this side as much as the Other.  two parts of the same whole.

for some reason, this makes me want to go back to the
Gypsy Ferrets thing. that all began with the soundtrack
to Chocolat., the movie. Which, i DID not see and WILL not
see ever, because it would ruin the movie that appeared in
it’s entirety, in my head, the first time i heard the soundtrack. i was cleaning at someone’s house. i often
turn on their CD’s…really loud. and wow…..i just
    stood there, mouth hanging open…..
a caravan of gypsy ferrets, a whole adventure through a
beautiful countryside, but sometimes frought with hard moments, but they managed. their “outfits” were magnificant, all the beautiful scarves and skirts, vests and cloaks, depending on the season. and their beautiful
smiles, ferretie little faces….their little teeth.
why does the Other side of this cloth make me think of that?

Beautiful – like a drawing, the lines finding their way – with and without a plan. I love this side!

I love seeing the back. Either side, I just want to walk through.
I do really like those strengthening kantha on the edges.
I am so curious about that soundtrack now.

    Hi Grace,
I hope it does not sound stupid or something…okay: I like the back side very much – haven’t yet decided whether I like it even bettet than the front. It’s because of the delicate texture of the (unintended) embroidery. The Kantha stitches’ effect is more elegant…well, it’s difficult to express, but nevertheless, most definitely: no backing fabric!!!
    Have a great day,
    eva

    “all of it’s trails”…i think that’s it. it’s the
many colored trails that brought forward the gypsy ferrets.
these trails are like their journey. they were(are?)
    masters of Just Going.

it’s like the threads show the journey and the now Other
side is where you got to….without knowing where
    exactly you were going.
    or something

looking at all of these stitches reminds me of looking into water & seeing faint reflections among the ripples- a peek at the story…with room to imagine your own interpretation-sort of what happened to you with the soundtrack i think.

its best not to see the movie. i read the book and was so disappointed in the movie. i wanted to see scenes of the french country side and it was all fake!!! i read about how they were so proud of themselves for this piece of technology… best to stay with your own images.
and… your piece is pretty neat on the back. not a big tangle like i have seen elsewhere. it doesn’t look like there are any big loops that the children could get their fingers caught in. its always interesting to see the backs.

no…i won’t ever. the one in my head is just too grand.
i have come to really love this Other side. how all the
small tracks we make create the Whole of it. this cloth
    has taught me so much.

this made me laugh. i am still laughing. no….Soundtrack
from the movie Chocolat. on the lable it says music by
    Rachael Portman.
the gypsy ferrets just came out of the Blue. i “saw”
them…in their magical gypsy wagons trekking across the
wild landscape, camping at night, mist and fog, valleys
and rugged landscapes. an old woman one and a younger
woman one, young and old though and children. they wore
such beautiful things, the fabrics, OHHHHHH. they were
actually ferrets. the little animals. but upright and
    what’s the word….anthropomorphized.
    i have a good imagination.
