jude is talking this morning about Fade and this sent a jolt of electricity through me……….THE RUG!….OH, THE RUG.      where have i BEEN in my mind??????????????  THE RUG.

i put the rug out when, i don't even remember.  beginning of summer.  i usually put it out into the Albatros for the summer because two wool rugs in the house is HOT.  and i have, for the last two years put it in the Sun for a while, trying to fade the              RED.

this time, i did that but then forgot  it.  it's been a very different kind of year here for me.  so…..i ran out and EEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

004

oh………..oh……………….look.  in spanish, meera.             oh, eee.

well, this is enough.  i rolled it up and dragged it inside.  it is pounds heavier with all the sand from its outing.  vacuum vacuum vacuum.  more vacuum.  one of these days i'll take it to the rug place in Albuquerque and have it cleaned.   it's a beautiful rug,  is my focus of morning meditation in the winter, the design.

when i got it, a barter thing, it was                 r    e   d.       red is a color that is    strong.  i work with my feelings about red.  this red rug was very red.     but now, look.  Meera.  oh and oh.  a kind of coppery bronze.      ohhhhhhhhhh.

Fade.

must admit i like the colour it is know. BEAUTIFUL. red is a bit in your face isn’t it . have you tried hanging it on the clothes line and giving it a good bashing with a straw broom? if it were me, i would also hang it on the line and hose it too, if it needs cleaning. i have done that in the past with antique silk rugs. they come up a treat, left on the line on hot windy days. of course you may think that a bit radical. Fading is good. cheerio, marg. ox

can you hang it on a strong line and bash it with a tennis/squash racket or strong stick?

it’s a really HEAVY rug, as is, even without half the
desert in it. none of my clotheslines could hold it.
but you are right, a good bashing would work.

    kim….mellowing. very mellowing.
i love certain reds in small surprises. there is a little
fish hanging from the shelf in the living room. i’ll
take a pic. it’s red changes everything in the whole
    room. a small red.

When I saw this, my mind automatically went to the old Steppenwolf song “magic carpet ride”. 🙂 Now I can’t get the tune out of my head. Ha! I like both sides !

I like the fade, but I have to say that I painted my living room floor red. It’s scuffing up quite nicely, but still, very red. 🙂
