for the last few days,  my life has been filled with     people.   this is not ordinary anymore.   and this is all i have been able to do with the Diaries cloth.

002
can you see the sitting buddha figure inside the cut out circle of one of Glennis' linen moons????

001
and look at this  ~!~   this cloth from Deb Lacativa        just look at the incredible color,  coloUr….i can hardly believe it.

so, the people days will continue for a while yet.   i hope to get some thread on the Glennis circle before i                        take the Diaries cloth                over to let the visitors look at it          upon repeated request  late this afternoon.   i'll pin it to her kitchen cabinets.    and answer questions.   and  then we will all go to the Farmer's Market if the rain stops.

the other part of all this is that over the weekend,  a friend who is visiting her son in Albuquerque came.   we decided we hadn't seen each other in somewhere around 25 years.  i had not seen her son in longer.    we sat at the table for            EIGHT hours straight             talking.        sometimes there was music too.   both of them musicians,  she sings.   and during this, the images in that Kaleidoscope arranged and re arranged and slowly swirled and twirled themselves into familiar patterns and ones i've never seen before.    we became friends in our early 20's, worked together during that completely formative time for me at the psych hospital and then had our babies within months of each other twice.  first the girls then the boys.  so there is a lot of History there.  a LOT of memories which we wove together in those hours.  two women and the memories of a very little boy  who is now 30 something.

Dru commented something the other day that would fit here perfectly.  i wish i'd gone to that comment first so i could put it here….but it's ok.  this will require a part 2,  so it can be there.

and the last here is another piece of cloth from Deb L                    i cannot stop looking at it, touching it….   it exemplifies perfectly her soul connections with her work with dye and cloth.   i'd like to say more about that too.  but later.  003

and i don't know what "did it",  of all this,  but i woke as usual at around 4am and got up as usual to make coffee and realized i had an incredible headache, and then sweats, and then chills.   either i ate something that wasn't good or it might be the wine consumed over these days???  but i went back to bed.  i lay there then, drifting in and out of dreams,  many of which were discussions and decisions about               cloth             shapes              colors         placement          all moving within almost slow motion exchanges with people  and  certain images and scenes would           magnify      just like it happens here when you double click……………….              i finally got up at 10 something.  i cannot remember ever doing that before.

yes….that woven part and the sun/moons they still make
    me sigh and swoon
the sleeping in…how strange. i don’t like to because i
feel like i am “burnin daylight” as John Wayne once said
to Katherine Hepburn….so much to do.
but this somehow feels right, that i did that…
breaking patterns, changing my mind, literally.
my dreams should be studied by some international dream
commission…again “ordinarily”. this one was very different mostly in that it was slow mo. and then that
    zoom in thing.

hmmmm……some call that a hangover (tee hee)
what an amazing connection with an old friend.
just today i spent 5 hours with an old friend from years ago who lives out west now—–so wonderful how with some folks we can just pick up where we left off —
a relationship “resting” the way jude talks about with cloth –but stuff is happening during the rest—its not just blank space —
    nice buddha
    gorgeous cloth
i want to steal that deb L. piece….
but i think you might notice….

I really like the richness of color this cloth is taking on. SO different from when you began. But, I liked it then too 🙂
I have a few friends like that, long-time friends, friends who deeply matter. So glad you got to spend some time with yours.

    Hi Grace,
In case that it was a hangover – at least it has been one for a good cause: talking, laughing, exchanging memories…what a feast! You two had a great time…and that’s all that counts. Who cares about a headache…
So it’s time to wish you a fine day using one of my favourite English imperatives : ENJOY!

Loving the cloth… the buddha is the perfect addition. And how wonderful to have a friend who you can chat with for 8 hrs straight. Sounds like a great visit. Also glad you are feeling better after your extra sleep. The body knows. You listened. xo

deb sure is, but i just asked her how come the food add ons to the dye process…i am missing something there.
aside from that, she has one in a pot on her deck, in todays’ photo, that i am a bit wanting…but must be patient, a giant burrito is coming my way already.

that beige piece of debs looks like part of a cotton bedspread. when it shrunk it gathered up so that it looks like its already been stitched with kantha. interesting…. i was intrigued; at first couldn’t see what it was then the magic of the magnifier solved the mystery for me!

the buddha is just a spontaneous mark on that cloth.
it will be interesting to figure out first whether or not
to, and then, how to define the figure further.

i wonder what that would feel like
i wonder why i just assume that i can’t do that? not
like i am not ABLE to do that, but that it’s against
some rule i have or something….
    it’s got me thinking….
and yes. i am remembering your teaching of spectrum….

yeah, mauvey pink or mauveysand earthmauve
something more like that and yes…the texture, the
patterning the cloth took of it’s own accord
such a beautiful example how cloth retains or regains its
