so,  here is the rack with pretty much all the cloth on it that i have dyed  (local plants)  in the last 2 years.  except for what is part of the Diaries Cloth.  i borrowed the rack Tuesday and have looked for 2 days.   it takes space.  but i really like it.  i don't know why.  but having them stitched together and STORED this way brings a mysterious sense of anticipation to the house.

the recent onion skin yellows,  i want to leave pinned to the curtain for a while

am still learning from this.  i would have never thought of having anything  YELLOW  in here, but i like very much how it changes the whole room.

THEN…….at the Thrift Shop yesterday, i found this cotton/linen shirt.

i like the weight of it.  so, i modified it a little,  and yes.  will use it in the Contemporary Boro 2 along with the Traveling Jacket.

otherwise,  back to stitching grasses.  this time, the Mexican Feather Grass.

    oh all is well here. i do like composite cloths hanging around, you can hang them outside in warmer weather. with the added fun of fade.
    i have the same cotton linen shirt. oh ha.

    OH, EEEEEEEE….twins!, sorta. isn’t it just the nicest
    combination? i love the feel of it, weight. i intend
    at this point to put more pockets INSIDE. want it to
    be more vest like than a shirt…like to wear over one
    of my denimjumper uniforms…..or something.

    yes…the cloth on the Window is Jude’s. that’s my
    crow feather.
    it really DOES feel like something is going on. i am
    thinking ….. did i say this already?????, that this
    will be a way to look at whatever i am able to make with
    Glennis’ workshop cloth. and then i WILL need to hang
    it outside too….or have layered lines throughout the
    house like Mo’a has in her studio???? or…..

    The home factory is happening, Grace! That yellow casts a fine glow at the window. I do love cloth with the light behind it. If I had a whole wall of window—well, I have what I have. I’m late coming home and lighting the Imbolic candles now for ritual ancestor remembrance, and to welcome Spring (though we haven’t had a Winter yet), but I’ve no need for a Celtic cross of reed to banish misfortune–it wouldn’t dare is what I think. Blessed be to all of thee, and all of thine.

    I’ve always thought (if you had a room big enough) it would be fun to have one of those old fashioned outside 4-sided clotheslines

    yes!, wouldn’t it be great? like a carosell????
    but, alas, the “studio” here is the house…and so….
    but i am thinking of stringing multiple lines like
    Mo’a’s in the ROOM…but, even better, would be to
    USE the cloth.
    tonight i’m thinking of redying a lot of it. over dyeing.
    ???????????????

    i am catching up after tons of travel and work. it is so good to come here. like coming home. i love all the dyed cloth. i didn’t know you had done so much. i haven’t done any yet. next summer will be my time to try this.
    oh, i am taking glennis’ class too, so will start with that.
    your lovely cloth of forever is so wonderful. i could stare at it forever too. it will wrap you in peace.
    i am back and now feel caught up..

    i am aching to stitch.. will have all weekend to work on the kimono. i also am doing the beast class because i had never done it. i am thinking i will make a beastie thing for the grandson.
    i am full of ideas right now. now to sit down with them all. want to do the stacked stitch..
    so glad to have this
    so good to come home to..

    oh, Grace, your stitched together, draped cloths immediately brought to mind tents I’d make from this and that over the clothesline as a child, and also of tents my children would make, inside and outdoors–so cozy, warm, and inviting

    I thought exactly the same thing as Ali – tents made of blankets or sheets – draped over kitchen chairs at my grandmother’s. A sweet and comforting memory enhanced by the tones and textures of your cloth!

    It is good to see your cloth hanging; a gift to see what has come from old pots, the New Mexican sun, the bits and pieces of plant material and land offerings. A hanging cloth collage of beauty just on its own, plus possibilities yet to be realized.
    Have grasses on my mind. Like that you are stitching Mexican Feather Grass. The other day, husband comes in from walk and shyly hands me a few clumps of Fountaingrass. Says he thought I might like to add them to my basket of grasses, weeds, dock, seedpods. Basket already has some but there is always room for more. A nice gift of the day. Probably my favorite grass here is Switchgrass and it is such a good name for this grass. for its many colors in the fall: first green, then red then the burgundy that is so rich and glorious against the browns of the fields. Even seed heads have a reddish tinge. When it appears in the fields, I gather some to put into dye bundles because they give good striations of color.

    I love the rack of cloths. It is like a vertical jigsaw puzzle where you can move the pieces around to create your own picture. The linen top is wonderful. Enjoy your weekend among the cloth.

    Hi grace, I’ve got my old rack up again with a new gathering of cloths – I do love to have my materials around and about me and not all neatly shelved (could I achieve neatly shelved? probably not.
    That is a beautiful collection of fabrics you have to play with.

    Your rack of cloths brings hides to mind, drying in the sun – a living off the land feel that’s reflective of the infusion of it through the plants the cloth has been dyed with. Earthy, beautiful raw material stored to make with.

    Hi Linda,
    I think the “Beast Class” is the most tricky thing…I haven’t got the brain to figure it out…I’m lost here. I’ve managed a “cat” …okay let’s call it a cat, but I found it really hard to do it: and it did look soooo simple in the video. Maybe I have these problems because I have no patchwork background.
    although: my friend loved the “cat” and is going to use it for her daughter’s baby’s blanket.

    we have switchgrass too. there’s some along the road
    up by the cemetary but none has planted itself here yet.

    in the US….

    i hope to make more clothes lines outside this summer…
    like spokes from the grapevine post to the fence. maybe.
    it’s always an issue of WIND here…he comes suddenly
    and can really wreak havoc with a rack like this. he
    would send it over to the neighbor.
