the least photogenic.  the cloth that the stone is, shreds with even the most care Full needle and the stitches of the legs disappear into it.  but somehow, that's ok.

in the future,  there may be many more of this scene…here, a room, but,  more of this figure and Things.  i love it a lot.

so this is today.   Five.  and good timing.  i have put it back up on the wall and will Look.  the rest of the week will pretty much be absorbed by Alz. B.  Everybody else is gone.  One skiing in Idaho and the other running up and down the California coast in a train.   so, she and i are on our own.  but it's a perfect time for a break…to see if more is needed or if we have It.

Thank You Everyone for your patience with this cloth.  Seems like it's been going on forever.  The Boro class is April 28.  I would like very much to feel some sense of  completion by then.  We'll see.

Grace, the lizards are great – they add action and life and surprises. My favorite is the one partially seen, coming from underneath, checking things out.

You must spend hours with the real thing..the poses and attitudes are so perfect. Just like real lizards you have to look twice, three times to be sure. perfect.

Grace, you have really captured that shy, dancing quality…pause, quick move, pause…I think they might escape from the cloth…

I say the more lizards, the merrier. With their movements uniting the various rooms, one feels they’re everywhere, and that’s so life affirming!

maybe just a peek-a-boo nose or swishing tail would suggest more merriment.

Oh Grace, the lizards are so wonderful! On a trip along the Colorado River one night there was a huge thunderstorm and flash floods. I got up from my sleeping bag to watch the sky. My eye caught movement on a rock wall and there were dozens of lizards holding on to it. It was as though they were playing in the water as it ran down the face of the rock. Your lizards brought back that memory. Thanks! (I think magic cloths are never done. They keep being transformed with more mending and cloth.)

Grace, even though you’ve been working with Jude, you’ve created a cloth that is uniquely yours! The lizards are wonderful. It’s so cool how you’ve placed them in different positions, different areas–I love the one peeking over the rock. I’m so drawn to your butterfly/chrysalis creature–it is saying something to me! Now I just need to listen. Beautiful, beautiful!

Grace, the lizards are just fantastic, you have caught them perfectly, incredibly realistic in their positioning and their little legs, I love them. The whole cloth is just opening up amazingly and, as for finished ……. what is finished! I have just had to turn off the news – man, this world is f—– up! I would much rather live in your cloth rooms and gaze out at your mountains. Hugs.

and isn’t it interesting. when i was trying to make
    them more complicated, ??????
but these are just a single rectangle…uneven. and
thread. that’s it. and it worked the best.
i am still thinking about that.

Really Finished, no. i know it won’t ever, but i need
it to come to a place of Rest. where everything is
    There and secure.
I really am wanting to make some other things….that

Robyn…i have this thing that appears on my screen
with the email inbox etc…i guess it’s Google? anyway,
all these little bits of news from all over the planet
so, tho i don’t do TV, i know. it is so heartbreaking,
all of it and that’s what makes me feel sometimes that
i am not doing my fair share as a human being at this
moment of time on the planet. that my cloth rooms, my
life here is ….. what’s the word….i can’t think of
it…well, you can fill in the blank. selfish, self
    absorbed. like that.
but then, i think that if i can express something about
loving things so much, with really, so little, that maybe
that IS something of value. that a lot of what goes on
“out there” is about the insanity of greed, fear.
anyway…i really appreciate you saying that. we could
    gaze together. xoxo

I´m always thinking that I´m not allowed to close my door and let the world outside, so I watch the news regularly. But I realize that I have to close a door inside not to get crazy about all this. so for today I will search some mountains. Gazing at it I will think about Grace, Robyn and all of those strong and creative women here. That is a sort of consolation

Cloth hanging on the line outside, wind and sun weaving and binding into the cloth for the cloth began from pot dipping and wind and sun and offerings of the land. And the cloth awaits the coming of the guardians, the lizards who will come and find a way to climb to the cloth, a scurrying, quick frolic, a dance among the threads and their namesakes around the rocks, a swish up the stitched grasses; giving their own form of benediction to the woman who told their story, the woman who in turn is the keeper of this place, forever in time – this sanctuary for the many…

I just love how you’ve made the lizard peeking over the stone so the body is suggested – becomes one with the background, while part is in the foreground – a sense of come and go like lizards and all things do.

Grace, I can’t think of anything nicer than gazing with you at the mountains! As for being self-absorbed, I cannot think of anyone less self-absorbed than you, so you should put that thought back in its box. You are so full of curiosity about the world, the real natural world and your response to it through your stitching but that is not selfishness, that is creativity working through you and the things around you. I love that you respond where you can to what people write, that shows that you think a lot about others. It could be a burden doing that and I am not cticising anyone who isn’t able to do that. Just saying I really appreciate that care you show.
