the question being….what's the chances of a woman born for the Lizard clan partnering up on a serious level with Goats?

yesterday a really unbelievable thing occured.  there was a

tornado

in Socorro County.   Who could ever have imagined?

before i found Spirit Cloth,  i had spent some time following Sharon Astyk's blog  Casaubon's Book.  she is the author of Depletion and Abundance.  to me, she is to sustainability  what Jude is to  clothmaking.  Both are rare women.  both brilliant.  both know what they are committed to.  her blog now is Chatelaine's Keys.  i spent a little time reading through some of her Posts yesterday.  until the storm, when i had to shut down the computer.

Whaaat! Shocked to read this. Living in the land of tornadoes, which has taken some time to get used to since I love wind, I’ve learned to respect its fierceness, I’m so relieved that all is well. Did some checking and read that tornado touched down in Magdalena.
This drawing of lizard woman and goat; a long time ago, your first cloth, the one that Alyssia has, I said woman in that cloth was you but upon seeing this drawing, well no words to tell of the feeling upon seeing this and looking for a long time…this is more than beautiful and it has huge truth.

Marti…again…i don’t even know what to say. i grew
up with tornados. but here, this is no place for
tornadoes…we would just very simply be wiped off the
    face of the earth. period.
the drawing came fast…as a surprise, really. don’t
    draw hardly at all anymore.
    LOVe to u ie

i have been through tornadoes too.. another mid westerner. awful fear of being swept away with no control. glad you are all safe.

after a big wind like that maybe wind threads would be all that was left. always a lovely animal element in your self portraits. i remember saying that long ago, maybe one of the first things i noticed in your work. the beast.

    Looks like you, yes?!
    And Sharon’s blog… WoW!
I read quite a bit on her fostering. The world is better with people like her (and her family). Thank you for the introduction…and the hope that she brings.
    I watched the tornado here:

Sharon is pretty much something. i spent about two
years working with her thinking. much of it remains to
    this day.
the tornado was in Magdalena…just up the mountain, as
    i said above. how strange.

dee…at first when i read this, i thought right away to
thank you for saying that. how it encourages me.
but i then also thought about it all day long as i was away at my Work for Money thing and had so MANY thoughts.
I guess i have always been that way and maybe that’s
another of the things that “clicked” for me with Spirit
    Cloth..with Jude…the words What If….
i have lived a What If life. i used to say that it’s
all just a Grand Experiment. and i guess there is some
    lasting truth to that?…yes….i think.
a What If to Everything. i do not regret any of the
challenges i have met. what i know i would regret is
just doing the same thing over and over. i thing then
there would be What If’s too, but of such a different kind.

Yea, I checked out a map to get my bearings. Just to add that name: Magdalena, has come up in different contexts 3-4 times in the last week! Mmm…

Magdalena is where i had thought i’d end up in the
    “beginning”.
i am going up there, Thursday, to say goodbye to my
Greatest New Mexico Heroine, Janet. she’s heading back
to Minnesota to be closer to her daughters. will be
    interesting to talk with her.

it’s what it IS. or can be.
    and i keep thinking…about a Lifetime, or a LifeSpan…
    What exactly is it FOR??????
i guess i always think its for the What If……….????
i know that others who have “watched” me might weigh in
differently. like my kids father, a big for instance.
but…i still think it may be the thing i don’t regret.

Dearest Grace, you are such a comfort to me, without knowing you inspire me in my own search for the biggest What if so far… I used to think I was so brave and confident and then – well, never mind that, the thing is you give me courage and the heart to move through my days in a different way, and I am very grateful for that. A tornado – blimey! More hugs.

    Dear Grace,
    I hope you are safe!
The weather is crazy worldwide! We had summer temperatures some days ago , the following days gave us a more tropical feeling with humidity and lots of rain. Just then the temperatures went down overnight, so that we had to put the heating on!
but thinking of a tornado in your part of the world really gives me the creeps!
    take care, Grace!!

Eva…i googled fillyjonk and found this…i wish i would break down and learn to LINK, but….
so…try googling and see if you see it, if not:
atthelighthouse.wordpress.com 2008/08/12 calendary-literature-august-the fillyjonk who believed in disasters
it is a short story by that title, The Fillyjonk Who
Believed in Disasters…from the collection Tales from
    Moominvalley by Tove Jansson
cindy recognized me…she’s pretty good at that sort of
    thing…
i was raised by a fillyjonk who never “came to terms”. so i have that thread in me. probably was/is even more operative in me than i am even aware.
let me know if you can find this website. it’s really really great…it’s someone’s blog.
