it's late. (for me) and this is on the ironing board. under the sewing lamp. but here, the beginning of the birds…from a piece of green/blue linen that i overdyed today with walnut. perfect. how ravens are, how crows are. so these pieces are just set. i want to get that feeling of how they are when they ride the Thermals and show me how it CAN be, if i let it. These are the same shapes as in the Magic Diaries cloth. i brought them over.
I cannot say how glad i am that i kept going.

i didn’t have that has brought me to this moment……….

that reminds me….long ago when i worked at the Psych
Hospital, a wonderful woman went around all day and all
night either singing Out LOUD, or if asked not to, then,
humming….same thing over and over

Birds flowing, flying, free, cloth vibrating… Thoughts of you yesterday grace and of your/our woman as I took the grandkids to Stowe Lake to watch the Canadian geese, ducks, robins…3 yr old granddaughter said “I can fly like the birds…3 yr old grandson said, ” I am a bird”…flow, family, love, it’s all there

I’m glad it is not a dream, if only because it makes it possible for you to share in this visual way. But, if it were a dream, oh what a dream it’d be!
There is something about your work that has such an indigenous feel to it. Maybe the symbols, or the colors…or maybe your daily life, so connected to place is what shines through. Whatever it is, speaks to me, deeply.

the SouthWest is THE SouthWest. so much symbolism. so
much Native energy that is really beautiful and so
understandable to me. but i have a STRONG sense of
how it all is so commonly appropriated…as in the verb
and watch closely for that in what i do…did, with the
fiber figures a LOT. it is the same land, the same sky,
the same archetypes, but they need to come through my own
singular experience of it all from living in/with it day to day.
so…thanks for putting it that way.
