i will go back to yesterday's thought as soon as i can.  sometime tomorrow.  i want to respond to thoughts offered.  i was planning to do that tonight, then things came up and it's too late.  but i do want to put this here

004f
it dried from sepia to the walnut i had expected.  i am , what?,  Uhhh, i am well, just so
"taken" by these marks.   this is actually the opposite side of the cloth as in the pic when it was wet.  this side is more defined.   and it is as i'd felt before.  How can it be Improved upon?  Changed by adding anything?  it is just so amazing as it is.  and i think that's why i've not gone along much into this process of bundling.  So i am looking.  i am thinking that maybe at the most, there might be some kind of border on the left side…but even that seems intrusive on the innate design.  i don't know.   What would YOU do if it was at your house???????????

i would look for a while, until i need some cloth for something.

I would sit and look at it for a VERY long time… get used to it… and make MANY more, so some might become things other than just an open bundle, and some might be naked as they are.

I know how you feel Grace. If my dyework came out so glorious…well, then I wouldn’t know what to DO with it! How to Not cover those thrilling markings? I like Jude’s idea of looking for a while because it’s good to remember that we don’t have to Jump into anything.
I love how this came to be right after our meteor shower, for that is what it reminds me of!

I would want to see the dye doing it’s thing without the (temporary) distraction of the creases..IF I knew that a hot iron would not change the colors, I would iron it face down with a press cloth too.
    but that’s just me

The color is beautiful – so earthy like the rest of your dyed cloth
Exactly what I would want for the robe I’m working on.
And I agree – looking for awhile.
Right now, I see a sunflower
But it will reveal its’ purpose and place with time.

I would hang it over my bed and sleep under it — maybe for a night, maybe for many. It’s truly ethereal, it conjures a sense of the divine.

Leave it until something else felt right. Eventually I probably would do something with it but it would have to “feel” right.

oh I know what you mean when a dye turns out whole, like a new born, I mean you cannot improve….just keep looking and then maybe one day, or maybe never, As Is

I would sit with it and find an old album called 461 Ocean Boulevard and listen to “Let it Grow” for awhile…

Oh, what a fantastic result from your dye. I would hang it to watch and spend time with, no pressure to add or change.
Definitely make many more with that technique etc. When it’s ready, or you are, then it will tell you what or where to go with it.

Grace! this looks like something needing a journey to the VLA…
hold it up high and let it wave in the wind to communicate with

it’s like the cover of a science fiction book i would love to read..from afar there is a person under the big sunflower.. or eye.
i think it could be the center of a magic diary cloth. jude would just keep adding things around it and embellish it with tons of stitch.
i love it. i also have a piece that i dyed in an acorn pot. it is like this.. not sure what to do…. so doing nothing for now.

I’m intrigued, and surrounded by all sorts of goodies that would probably be fun to use, but no idea how to begin. Ideas, please?

Jude has great advice as usual.
Hang it somewhere where you can live with it. I like to hang new work, or work in progress, where I can see it first thing when I wake up. I’m smarter then and things come to me.

Margo…first just from post to post of Jude’s and then
getting both of India Flint’s books
    Eco Colour and Second Skin
but for me really, i have just plopped stuff in pots and
let them sit in the sun. i am too “cheap” to use up
propane heating on stove. i could heat outside, i guess,
maybe to lazy for that. so, plopping into pots and water.
and the pots themselves act as mordants…copper, caste iron, aluminum. as far as i know, there isn’t a lot to
work with around here. Where you are, i would guess might be more?
and just to say, if you ever find yourself down I~25 near
Socorro, let me know and it would be good to talk, look.

a couple of my comments didn’t ‘take’ – hope it’s because of operator error – it’s usually because of operator error!
The other comment I’m kind glad didn’t make it, b/c it was a little too worshippy – know that I come here to be refreshed and without fail, am. That is enough to say!
As for this wonderful piece, my inclination would be to quilt it to something very soft (and slightly bigger than this cloth), taking time to accentuate the central form, then hang it back up and see what wanted to come next. I see it in the middle of something.

always look at the bottom…the blue letters: more comments below??? could that be it?…or…as in the
comment box not working on the new post, could just be
TypePad glitchiness…but they are entitled. it’s amazing to me that these blogs work as well as they do, really.
what my dilemma really is with this kind of dyeing, is that
it just is SO WHAT IT IS IN IT’S ENTIRETY as is. just as
is. Why would i ever want to change it?.
and about the exchanges that go on here; it’s funny…
and you could ask my kids, all my life i have verbalized
wondering, thinking, talking. again..did that for a
living for many years. i’m just so used to it. and am
not shy and really, don’t worry what anyone else thinks.
my guess is that some of the way i do this blog might
put some people off. that the way i have chosen to live might put some people off. That’s ok. This is just how
it’s all going and it helps me to see it clearly by talking about it. i am just so happy, HAPPY that it seems to make sense to you and others. this is such a great
    great thing to me. xo
