The red chair has a mast…. a place to sit, like at the base of a very large tree, to dream and travel, with or without a raft.
(and the color is good, too!)

watching a beginning mind work through these things…
what we FEED them…such great care, at not feeding what
is not necessary. but letting them take, ask for, what
    their beingness wants.
he took your Red Bird. he said he wanted it for his
Home. he took Nancy’s Sun and Moon. he took old river
shells with sand in them from here. he took
    so many Impressions.
all of the 5 weeks still sits in the red chair.

“all of the 5 weeks still sits in the red chair”…such poetry of life. I’m so very glad that there was so much richness for him to take…and for him to leave with you too – held in your heart and things like the red chair. Love the read chair and your dyed fabric, especially the red long one.

WOAH–He took the red bird? Amazing! How that one has traveled–from Massachusetts where it began to New York City, and then to Polvadera, New Mexico and now…well, I’ll be! What a wonder. I feel honored that he wanted it, touched that you gave it away to the little boy who left that red chair sitting by itself. It kills me…just thrills and kills me. /did you give him the pencil paints too? Did the blocks and glow-in-the-dark dinosaurs ever spell or glow in all those five weeks? Will he miss the goats? How are the goats?

The red chair; a place to sit for a little boy to see and take in this magical place that is his ole Nana’s home. What stories he must have told to himself, maybe shared with his ole Nana. What stories he will tell his Mommy. Five weeks of loving, living and giving and his ole Nana carries this time, snapshot by snapshot, reel by reel…
it’s what we do, we great Nanas and Grandmas – hold onto the simple joy…

Oh that chair all by itself.
I love those very dark parts in the fabric.
Hope all went well and that it’s not too quiet now. : )
    Happy stitching.

    this
    season word
    is really having strength
    just so much
and i thought this morning how no one could stay here, in
this home in the coming season. how it is too cold. people would not like that. not want that. and how sometimes i don’t like it but never do anything to change it because by the time i can’t bare it a moment longer,
the season changes. for whatever reason, i need these seasonal lessons in endurance and tempering of the desire
    for Easy.
i stitched the cuff of my Boro Noragi a little in first
    light today.

somehow the dyed cloth is like the space in the top picture, like the shadows cast by the chair; so you were together for 5 weeks, that is really soemthing for a great-grandchild and his nana

i think the same thing about the rain here. when it gets to the point when i can’t bear another drop.. the season changes.
i want to see the cuff too.
not stitching right now but it is coming..
i envy your time with the little one. i could use a hit of that.
what wonderful memories for both of you. and a hole in your heart for now..

the red chair and its shadow. such a poignant image. when you see Julian again, no doubt he will be stretching out as well. loving the black and wondering if you needed a mordant with the elderberry?

no..no mordant. and this was using leaves. the berries
don’t do anything here. the aluminum pot i think does…
not so much happens with the copper and cast iron pots.
but also, i don’t really know, i think it has a lot to do
with water. there are lots of minerals and whatevers in
    the water here…
