Wow that’s a big garden bed & you would have such excellent compost with all the straw and goat poo this year!

this is just to create compost. nothing will be planted
in it. i’ll take it out bit by bit in February to put
in the raised beds and new planting spots in the close
House Yard. i hummed a little song to all the tiny
creatures working away in there. it’s already beginning
    to smell of Earth…Love that…..

YAY! Seeing this compost area is so great and while I don’t sing, might scare the hard working little creatures away, I did a little dance around my chair to call forth the worms…When you said you were bringing goats to your land, I worried and wondered what will she be able to grow, where will she find space for her tomatoes, her cucumbers, her yellow hots, etc. But of course, you figured it out and this is so good.

marti…this to me is Great too. it’s the old potatoe patch. was
a weed patch last year. it receives the straw, shit from the
Albatros and compost offerings from my kitchen (not a lot, being
only one) and the remnants of alfalfa from the Goat bowls. i
need to make a photographic study of this, don’t i. turning it
yesterday i saw that it had already begun in such an Energetic
way, already SOIL was happening and i’m wondering if even sooner,
it can move into the garden beds? maybe two entire VATS will
occur in the next months???? and how, in how many ways, will it
    change things?
yesterday the people i work for, the people who consider themselves to live in the “real” world, the “regular” world, came and brought
such Doubt to me as they walked around and i felt so unsure until
i looked at [these three posts that should have been one] and
knew i need to keep Just Going.

I don’t doubt that you can go into the garden beds sooner than you think because of the richness of what is already happening. So excited that I showed Rich and he said, “wow!”. But he wouldn’t be he if he didn’t have a suggestion so he thought maybe it would be easier for you to break the long bed into three sections, could place a board, or rocks to mark each third.Years ago when we lived in Sacramento he attended a composting workshop and the idea of having rotating sections was thought to be a good one since composted materials ripen at different stages…
As for “the people who consider themselves to live in the “real” world, and made you feel unsure; a pox on them I say…You have some of the soundest instincts I know and you have always kept on going, no matter what obstacles you faced. You are so in tune with the seasons, the cycles and you are getting into the rhythm of goat herding, your instincts are so right. These “people” could learn so much from how you live. All they need to do is close their mouths, open their eyes and be silent in order to take in all that you have and are accomplishing. Boy do I feel my blood rising…but I have calmed down because you only momentarily felt unsure and then you did what you always do, just put one foot in front of another, trusting in yourself. And that self is pretty wonderful because the truthful way you live your life inspires and instructs so many of us who love you dearly. OK, I’ll get off my stump now…:)

Might want to figure out a way to keep the dogs out of it. πŸ™‚ I need to take a picture of my bed that I prepped for next years squash with chicken manure.

now that the mini-ramps has come down in our backyard, I will be able to compost again — but not like this! your activities, your aesthetics, your narrative, all inspire. I don’t even really know why.
