it began with the Post of  9/19 Going somewhere I need to go.

it has sat on the wall since.  through the grand finale of an election, through destruction of Jude's part of the world, on going.  and the other day, it came down from the wall and sat on the table.  then, a phone call during which an interview with Joanna Macy was mentioned:  On Being with Krista Tippet  A Wild Love for the World.  and the grief broke, like a fever.

"There's absolutely no excuse for making our passionate love for our world dependent on what we think is its degree of health.  Whether we think its gonna go on forever.  THIS moment…you're alive."

Hi Grace. I’ve lived so long w/o tv and actually lately, very little radio. But your reference to Krista Tippett intrigued me to the point where I have found the web site for On Being and can now actually listen to all those programs. So for that I wish to say thank you so much.
I fell in love with this figure the first time you posted her and feel so happy that you’ll be sharing her with the rest of us.
After your comment about a blog, I looked into it a bit. I suppose I could pull this together. Just wondering what the differences are between blogspot/typepad/and word press. If I’m reading it right, typepad requires a monthly fee so I’m thinking maybe they offer something the others don’t. Do you have any idea?

i think Deb G referred us to On Being once…i don’t remember what for….
i love, well, more than love this particular interview…
she, Macy, speaks directly to my angst
i worked on this cloth today. i don’t know, it’s going to
be hard. and thinking of the conversation in Diaries, i
am not inclined to just set something aside when it gets
    hard…i need to keep on.
Wordpress i don’t really know anything about. i think
Dee has it and i know Mo Crow. it seems cumbersome to
me. I began with Blogspot and i liked it just fine
accept at that time it was not possible to pair up the
comments and a response. now i think you can do that.
I switched to typepad because of that and i am happy
    here..i think the basic is $8? i think i pay $12 and i
forget why…maybe because there was an option for something for a shop in case i ever got to that? hmmm.
anyway and also there was never any HELP with blogspot
whereas Typepad has always been very responsive and
quick with helping me. even really dumb things. they
are very nice about it all. i made that comment because
i think when we do a blog, more of who we are goes into
it and i’d like to know you more, know your work more.

I was going to save listening to that interview for this weekend but after coming to visit here about an hour ago I decided that I really needed to listen tonight. Oh it was beautiful, so many parts of it. I read and reread the transcript a couple times too. It also made me think of Terry Tempest Williams and Finding Beauty in a Broken World. In some ways, made me understand it even better. I keep thinking about what Joanna Macy said about being present and showing up during the interview. Did you catch that there is a link on that page to the video clip by Renate Hiller on handwork?

“now what…” now she could be taken outside, shown your land, sit on a rock, face the sun, salute the goats, see if she can find any feather grass clumps. In other words, now she moves out to show her presence, to bear witness to the fact that while there is planetary grief, in this place, one woman, in this spot of goatland and grassland and growing things and compost, gives living hope…

Hi, Grace. Living in the moment–this reminds me of ‘The Artist’s Way’ If one is breathing steadily, has a roof over one’s head, and food on the table, then one’s blessings are many. Your photos are so beautiful, and the traveling face adds so much meaning to it and suggests so many ideas. That sun-motif fabric is stunning. I’ll go look up the On Being site tonight, sounds interesting. And my brother signed off an email this way: “I woke up this morning and my heart was still beating, so I went to work.” Can it get any simpler?
    best, nadia

Grace thank you for letting me know about Joanna Macy. I looked at the films and I´m fascinated by her personality. I even found an interview which is translated in german. So I can really understand her ideas.Perhaps I dare to read one of her books ( which would be a long work for me) which one would you suggest?
Your wandering face … I imagine that it can expand a focus

Bobby McFarren that i was remembering…so much there.
i hope that Cindy looks at the Hiller video and NOTICES

Thank you Grace, I first had only a link with english books, now I found another and there are three books translated in german. “World as lover …” “Coming back to life” The third seems to be a collection of stories.

I think Jude found the clip on Renate Hiller first, don’t remember exactly as I know I found a link to it somewhere else too. Yes it was the Bobby McFarren interview that lead me to On Point. I’ve been listening to a few different shows every weekend. Cindy really does need to see the Hiller video, just for what she is wearing…and of course all the wonderful things she says.

yes. feeling so helpless, i went back to an old tried and true
solace…visualizing in as much detail as i could, your world.
piecing together all the small things i know about it and
her…the wooden She, outside in It All….
then surrounding all in a luminous shinning bubble…like the
children’s blowing bubbles…visualizing it moving but intact,
    floating in the storm.
all the while looking at this one during those days
