this makes me so happy.  7 wheelbarrows full of bedding straw and manure.  scrap grass hay.

a rare good pic of Just Going.  a Very nice, as in conformation, Jr. Doe.  i should sell her.

and then, just some pics where, if you click them to enlarge, you can see just a little of the Evening play.  They RUN, very very fast, rear and head butt, whirl and jump.  here, there is barely any of that visible except for the first one, really, on bottom right you can see SnowBunny leaning in sideways on the turn…anyway…..

again…wish i could make a movie. these pics, any pics
don’t convey the really amazing craziness of their
evenings. All of them. not just the young ones, but
All of them are Into it. it’s how they know eachother,
playing like this. how they maintain their sense of themselves as a herd. it’s really very beautiful to watch.

You’ve given me enough for a movie in my mind. Animals at play are delightful. We watched a squirrel today jumping and twisting and climbing and then doing it again and again… Playing!

so what camera are you using? A year after I had my Canon A1100 IS, I found out it had a movie setting. All my little videos are with this camera. I wonder if yours has a movie setting?

this is funny and perfect…saskia’s response to your
mom. how good does that get…?……
no Goat mother would Ever think to say that to a kid.
they need, from even day one, to be ready. the only
way you can be ready is to be in the thick of it.
actually, their lives depend on this if they were in
a more natural environment. but even too, this domestic
environment. you need to learn FAST to take your place,
whatever that place is. and it changes….
according to exactly what, i don’t really know, but i
think according to breeding cycle. she who is in heat
needs to make this known to the herd and assert herself.
With Nigerian Dwarves which come into heat MONTHLY, like
women, there might be a few out of 13 in heat. who gets
the attention of the most desirable buck?????
    Serious Business.
When we had babies last year, it began in April and went
into June. 14 of them and i was so overwhelmed i didn’t
have the wherewithall to watch closely. This time it will be different. only 2 does bred so maybe 4 or 5 babies.
and it will be interesting to watch how they make their
    way out there. REALLY interesting.

goats milk is much more easily used by humans than cow.
there are many diseases that respond to Goat milk, cheese,
    Parkinsons for one.

grace i must say saskia’s response was like a lightening bolt..why had i not thought of that before ?
well too busy toeing the line or else i think .
yep.one of those exorcist moments..my head spun 360 degrees.
and my life when mum was in charge was always about staying in cotton wool ..obviously NOT what the goats are about !

thing is Roz, when it comes to seeing my own mother, I have issues too (duh)
her words/actions (and my dads’) are the blueprint of my life and once I realize that, I can look at it and say to myself: okay some of what you taught me is okay and works for me,some of it isn’t okay at all and other stuff is useless to me, but get it.
