since i had to go to work, i had the idea to take you with me.  this is my favorite house i clean, the one with the windmill

003f
the bird is a swallow.  almost every home that is adobe or stucco has swallow nests.  i'll get a pic of one soon.

004f

007f
this is about just half of the livingroom.  i could fit my entire house in the livingroom almost 3 times.  it's a Great room.  they are geologists, musicians, and horse people.  instead of nicnacs, there are guitars, accordians, dulcimers and acoustical stuff.  and saddles.   the house itself has incredible acoustics and when i clean i often sing.  it's the only place, really, that i almost sound good.  today, that lump down by the piano…a new saddle.  it's an old saddle but newly acquired.  i'd never seen it before

010f
a very large saddle.  working saddle.  incredibly beautiful.  i stood and stared at it for a long long time.

008f
i can't remember what their called, but the "boots" that go over the stirrups.  for working in heavy brush, difficult terraine

009f
saddle bag.   maybe close to cloth, i love tack for horses.  he will go over every inch of all this with oil.  it will be burnished.  i look forward to seeing it.

and do you see…the floors throughout the house are tinted concrete.  shades in the hallways vary and lead to the shade of the next room.  lots of oriental rugs.  My favorite house.  BIG.  no stuff to dust.  good acoustics.  one cat.

011f
i started this last night,  finished stitching it together this evening.  all "clean" white.  all different.  and i'm looking at it.  i'd thought of it as a spider web.  it was supposed to be oval shaped.  it still could be i guess.  so am looking at it.  will leave it on the wall.  but really, what i want to do is work on the second altar cloth above it.    for the sake of solidarity, i'd like to like the white.  but it is just well…just white.  i don't feel it.  but i am still willing.  so…we'll see.

OH FUN, A FIELD TRIP!!! I could smell the leather of that saddle and isn’t amazing what is involved in a WORKING Western saddle, its got as many things on it as a dashboard of a truck. Contrast with the la-dee-dah of an English saddle.

I love going out into your world.
    How big are those swallows?!?
And what would it be like to live in a place that big?
white, i tried to be with it today….

did you like that? the field trip?…i thought later,
i should have taken you into town. to my favorite
grocery store. introduced you to whoever was working today. they are all, as it’s said here, “like family”.
yes. that saddle was really really something. i want to ask them about it. it’s BIG.
Martha also does the la dee dah. She raises horses.
Her young stallion died last year…a genetic thing they hoped he wouldn’t carry. but he did. she took his mane
and tail and wove them. she’s a weaver too. forgot to say that. i like them a LOT. i actually see them maybe
once every 6 months at the most. but…their home is
very intimate to me. and there is pleasure in doing all the things she hates to do. her coming home and it
    glows. it really glows.

swallows…maybe robin size? just kinda small to medium birds
but they are so much the meaning of spring and summer. build
their mud nests right over people’s doors. i’ll get more pics.
It is BIG. the kitchen/dining area is about as big as that
living room. then a bedroom half that size and then a guest bedroom.
I love it. when Julian was here last year he came with me and
SPUN through it, spinning spinning and he played the piano. it
really is a GREAT house and also great because it is Plain. and
sans stuff. just what they love. space/music/horses….and
she has a few looms. but that is not her first love. the horses are. AND she is the ultimate gardner. as i said. i really
    like them.

I thought they were a kind of swallow I’d never heard of, that photo makes it look eagle size!

i know…i looked back at it…but it was just zooming in to it’s nest as i took the pic…i guess. i had not seen it when i took it…only when i downloaded.
    and white…well…i am trying.
    but also, wondering
    WHY?
    well…enough of that.

I know those saddles sooo well… and NOT because I am a horse person. One of the first houses we lived in when I was a child was a converted carriage house. Downstairs there was an enormous room with an enormous stone fireplace at one end and a bar at the other. The bar stools were all different kinds of mounted saddles, if you can believe it! There were English and Western saddles. The room was really more our playroom that a bar. My sister and I would set up our barbies all over the floor there. What a great GREAT room. Funky house, but all of our friends used to love those saddles. I hadn’t thought of those in years, but the tooling on the saddle brought back all the memories of that room and those beautiful saddles – the sound of the leather when you got on them….

oh..jeez. i love reading this. GOOD then, to remind
    you. re~mind.
    it’s something, isn’t it.
and if they are used, the Smell of them…the combination
oil for the leather and the sweat of the horse.
    i had a horse once. that’s a BIG story.
and when i was a young girl, i WAS a horse. that is a bigger story.
now…i know people who have horses. lots.
and i can smell that leather. i go out and put my face
into the horses faces. muzzle to muzzle. it’s quite
    exquisite.
and yes. that sound. foot in the stirrup and leg over and the
    SOUND
of seating on the saddle. yup. it is Singular.

of course, I wanna hear the bib story about when you had a horse–and the story about when your WERE a horse even more maybe.
It’s interesting how many of us are just not into white, challenged by it,,,but your pie is a piece of work…maybe it will find its way…my little canvases are limping along unenthusiastically so far. Eventually something will click i tell myself.

Thank you for sharing your day. The house is magnificent. I am seeing your spiderweb…perhaps when it’s all webbed and spidery, it can become part of an altar cloth…there’s a lot of magic in spiders. we have black widows here. I didn’t believe the boys, so they brought on into the house to show me.

Interesting what happens when there is an odd number of wedges in a circle. The Cherokee flag has a five pointed star. Which is a kind of a circle in a way… Anyway the whites you have are all different whites and now when you add anything it will be the texture that speaks. I better go and get my white groove on… I am behind as usual. But i will get there. Love love love that house. The rugs ! What is there really speaks! Sort of like white. When there is an emptiness there is space for something to speak.

Ohhhhh I could soooo live there!! reminds me of a house near me that a very wealthy couple live in, but the house is uncluttered and comfortable. I love that house too. And then there is music and horses and gardens…oh my. And I just said the other day that I want one of those small for decoration in the yard windmill. For no other reason than I am really taken with them. 🙂
I like your shades of white pie. Will watch what you add.
We have swallows here at the community college where I used to work. There are so many of them it can really become a problem. There are large areas of pavement covered in their droppings. The students aren’t wild about that 🙂
