a couple things i love

006
these are whites that were dyed with onion skins maybe close to three years ago?  i stitched them together in an effort to organize.  very loose running stitch.  and i can't remember why i pinned them to this curtain in the first place, but they have remained there and i can honestly say that i admire them every single day.  and i thought of them today in connection with the What If Diaries.

001f
when i was looking for White, i unearthed this.  i have no idea what made the marks anymore.  some dye pot or another.  an artifact.  but…isn't it Beauty full?  and as i was looking at it i remembered and there in the corner

002f
this Mend.  not Properly done, or even, neat, really, but to me, oh so artfull.  like some kind of wild night insect.

and then i spent a good chunk of the day up at the old folks home with Alz B and her youngest daughter who is visiting her from Seattle.   Home, and finally, the day when i could stand it no longer.  the bedroom is tiny.  there is a full size futon bed.  there WAS a huge heavy old dresser with mirror across that took up the entire end of the room, leaving maybe 2ft between it and the end of the bed?  about 3 years ago, i asked the neighbors if they might want it .  yes.   and we spent an entire day almost inching it out of the bedroom, down the small hall and out the back door.  i replaced it with two 3ft wide x 6ft tall utility shelving units.  on the one side, two of the shelves are for my clothes.  the rest is for cloth.  and when i was looking for White, i made an incredible mess.  so the afternoon was spent trying to correct that.  some.  the Dalai Lama, pinned to the wall by the door gave me his humorous approval.  saying…it's ok, grace.  he always says that.  it's ok, grace.

and that's it.  hoping for something a little more uhhhh,  well, just something a little More tomorrow.

    they are…kind of….dark aren’t they.
well…almost all the stuff on the shelves is in the form of clothing. stuff to cut up. to redye. there are
also all the baskets in the Room. they have all the bright scraps, light scraps.
but, really, it’s true. bright just is not dominant
here. moody. dull. with bright to emphasize beauty
    stuff.

I like that curtain and cloth arrangement, too. New goats are moving in down the road, and a woman, too, but mostly goats. Maybe Pasha and I will take a walk down there and see what we think of goats! Of course, I already know them, but I don’t think Pasha has ever SEEN one!

Oh, I was just thinking, this means that we will have about equal goat to human popluation on the road, I think.

well..i look forward to a report!
Tazmeena doesn’t think a lot of the Goats.
she seems to be keeping her distance, her own
    boundries. cats and goats…hmmmm.
but, human beings/goats…that’s a good thing.

The Dalai Lama’s smile, always a pick me up. He has the most amazing laugh too, sort of a whole body laugh. Wishing my shelves looked as tidy as yours do today.

the first pic is like an abstract Vermeer painting; do you think you could make a wild night insect on purpose?

it is true…searching for white can be so messy …have a whole new pile of stuff searched through..no white found..fortunately i had a box within which to throw it until i can deal this weekend..but ..good to have gone through it…but oh sometimes finding white is a surprise…coming back into the house this morning…the moon..a waning crescent.was reflected back at me over and over in the windows of my house..amazing white against the deep blue of the early morning windows…came in to let your words start my day… so much more than enough grace…
may your day begin with some equally nice surprise ..rise well xox much

never really thought about pinning pieces to a curtain. i have a lace curtain on one window and a piece of spirit cloth would be great pinned up!
love the rolls of fabric on the shelves. so much easier to see colors. i have my weavings rolled up like that on a chest.

ah I really like that blackened hankie I think this is a way forward for me to be able use the old lace & linen hankies that are here… if I just dip the edges in black pigment, ink or rub charcoal into them or maybe even a bit of singing and a bit of black stitching… hey hang on! I have this piece already… it’s Jude’s… will post over on the what-if forum now & for those not there here’s a link

that wild mend was on the cloth when i found it at the
Thrift Shop. it really is extraordinary. i love thinking of the circumstance, the Urge to mend that created it.
and i don’t know. it would be a sudden mend….

    but…gives a very find result.

thanks for keeping up with me, dear grace! good to be back here too. funny how we can kind of know what is up with others without really being in touch. i felt as though i disappeared for awhile there. my dad is not doing well, his cancer is advanced and metasticized (sp?) so the dream home has to wait while i spend time there and try to help out, but that’s just as it is and should be. thank you for the warm welcome back ❤

beauty… art… the big questions. I think tomorrow’s dream is all about this. And in a way, your dream becomes ‘our’ dream – each of us coauthoring aspects, or inspiring a detail, cross-fertilizing, like a collection of (nothing solitary here) wild night insects!!
As for mess, I made the punishing/self indulgent mistake of buying the most recent Cloth Paper Scissors studio edition, which every time I do, I flip through and wonder, why? why? why do this to myself? (not just that, but that being the prevailing thought). And to think the very best tip for studio mess might be embedded in this post — (and free!!) to hang a photo of the Dalai Lama, so his beneficence can beam out at me in the most reassuring of ways!!!
my bins have reached blockade proportions – shelving unreachable, etc. With warmer weather I hope to spend more time down there.

Cloth paper scissors…that’s how i discovered JUDE!!!!!
it was the edition that featured Arlee’s Beautiful Bones.
and October issue and down at the end of the article
    was something tiny about SpiritCloth@typepad.com
    and i thought…hmmm…SPIRIT cloth???? clicked…and
    YO!…it all began.
yes. the DL…beaming upon me in every room. and he
always says the exact same thing. then gives a Teaching.

I discovered Jude in a Stampington magazine called “Artful Blogging” – what a fateful reading it was! I started blogging immediately after, and also following her work…
