day 36 a different kind of day

the word  Coordinates  would not go away.  these fragments would not go away.  so…ok.  i looked up coordinates in the dictionary and i like two of the possibilities, but neither is exactly right, or maybe a combination of both?

any one of a set of variables used in specifying the state of a substance or the motion of a particle or momentum.

any numbers used in specifying the location of a point on a line, a surface, or in space.

maybe combining those?  adjusting just a little?  but these "coordinates" will stay.  and once they are stitched down, this altar cloth is finished.  there is a lot of "listening" involved with making these.  it's different.

and the computer guy in town was supposed to call me around 6pm when he closed his shop.  Nothing.  and i remember back to once when i took my first one in to his shop.  i'd bought it from him.  and he is beyond overextended with work.  it took forever.  he kept saying probably tomorrow.  there were a lot of tomorrows.  but now, it's nearing dark and i am over the initial SHOCK of suddenly things Changed.  i will get used to it.  i just feel like i am cut loose…just well, i don't know.  Maybe he'll come tomorrow?  maybe not.  and this takes me back to before Spirit Cloth which was i guess 4 give or take years ago?  i was into Sharon Astyk then…the Depletion  and Abundance woman.  i was working to become as Minimal as possible.  live by the skin of my teeth…and love it.  interesting how much has changed.  then, i would not miss email really.  i would have written letters.  pen to paper.  i did have a phone.  Now…i am connected to All of You.  All of You have become a part of my life.  interesting.

So…i do not have any email at all.  i can connect to Typepad things…for the moment.  but am aware or wary, that could change any minute.  odd little things have come and gone of their own accord all day.  so…i really have no idea.

but here it is.  a very different kind of day.  Wind is here too and has a different sound to his Voice.

    Love to you…My power was off this morning. Something was tired and fell over in the wind last night. It was a gift to be able to sit in the dark with one light, listening to the rain hit the roof. I’m thinking we were probably reading Sharon’s blog at the same time. I value so much the experiments I explored with austerity, I value so much more what I have now. I am more deliberate. I am very glad that we are where we are now.

    how interesting…the Sharon days. those austerity experiments continue to shape my days…as i know they do yours. but it was a very singular

    period of time. and it has become so different. it’s interesting to me that at some point during the day today, Spirit Cloth links for Student Access appears when i try to google. MotherShip i like to say. and so far…so farrrrrr…it is my only link to the outside world.

    I looked and immediately these coordinates… the lines meet at that center fulcrum place and there now that there are these “weights” on the ends of the lines, a whole new sense of movement and balance has happened. I love it. I FEEL that central balance point and also see the slight bob of weighted rod-lies as they slowly move around that point… totally cool!

    good to see you online Grace, my Mom’s computer went strange last week and she couldn’t access her g-mail but my brother helped her sort it out so x fingers it’s just working with the constant ch-ch-changes! your balancing coordinates in this cloth make a perfect centreing device.

    funny….how cloth keeps “asking”….that small fragment
    down at the bottom of the Sun’s rays…
    until i found it, i had kept looking looking and looking
    through all the baskets..not for anything i knew of,
    really, but when i saw it…i Knew it…and it is
    exactly right there, under the Sun.

    you know…when i began putting in the lines, they were just really random in a way…no thought of x but
    how the stitches just by nature found themselves x~ing.
    it was very nice, the moment i saw that happening. i almost thought to change them, no not let it happen. but that would have been working against the intention of the cloth.
    it has been quite an experience, this cloth.

    Grace, I hope you soon get your computer problems worked out. So frustrating…
    But also… I’ve been thinking about the “altar” cloths and the purpose of them. I know how I would use such a cloth. But I suspect it is a very individual thing. And in a way, the cloth will not really be complete until it is in its new home and put to use in that highly individualistic way. And so I was thinking that you almost need to leave them a bit “unfinished” to your eye because they will be completed in their new home with something of the “unforeseen” placed upon them. If that makes sense… I think you used the word stage a while ago. The actors will need some room and there will be props.

    you are absolutely correct and that’s the challenge of
    finding how to make them.
    in the other clothmaking, it’s what’s is in the central
    field that tells a story. these…there is no story
    …that, as you say, begins with use. and not by me.
    yes. exactly.

    this balancing act at the crossroads ’tis lovely Grace!
    & hey my Mom had trouble with her gmail last week, couldn’t send e-mails or find where they were so she just walked away and looked at it again a few days later with fresh eyes & found out there was nothing “wrong” it was just that she had to find where everything is now with the upgrade.

    Dear Grace…do not despair…
    snailmail is still my favourite way to communicate!
    This is the way the cookie crumbles:
    1) letters become old fashioned…email is the new thing!
    2) everyone’s writing 58 emails per day…not very avantgarde anylonger
    3) Hey, let’s write a proper letter!!! That’s soooo cool!

    well…undo them. my guess it is going to be Monday at
    the SOONEST. i drove into his shop in town and he is
    CLOSED on Sat. and Sun.!!!! i haven’t been there for a
    long time (i get new mouses from him). so..i don’t
    expect to even be able to speak to him till Mon. oh
    well. calm has returned and i am Just Waiting.
    and p.s. i really DO love so much your cloth posted
    in Diaries…and if i had email i’d ask you what the
    son thinks of it. i’m not much for the concept of
    heirlooms, but if there ever was one, this would be it.
    i’m hoping he loves it.

    I LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT YOU SAY THIS!!!!! great meaning to me because i think often for whatever reason of you there in your window with your camera, watching over my doings here.
    if it is too time consuming, too just hard…then the language thing i understand. but REALLY
    and REALLY
    things said in english with the lilt of another language to me are so much more expressive, really….just please me no end.
    You know, here in New Mexico, more than half, Many more than half are first language Spanish. Many are Navajo, around here, so we are used to the Mix. and when i try to say things in Spanish, there are always great beaming smiles about my effort but childlike results. But we are
    all happy.
    so…again…if it is “work” to comment, i understand. but if it is just that it is flavored by your own language, i SOOOOOO much welcome that.

    Ok then.
    You see…. my language is flavored with a mixture of Dutch and German. I can even speak a little French or Italian if i have to but only if i can look in someones eyes. And if i can use my hands to explain.
    So if i talk to you imagine me standing before you and talking with my hands………
