i made a list while it was still dark this morning.  checked things off as i went along.  things like

new latches both sides of gate to the Way Back.  Hang laundry AND take down when dry.    Shovel out the Goats "bedroom" in the Albatros….put on new compost heap and turn in.  Water that.   Turn  other compost and water.  Clean out the Honda car:  it's like a mobile closet.  Hook up battery charger (the rear lights have suddenly decided to remain on all the time, making battery dead????)  Take charged vehicle over to Bill's.  (who will fix it).  While there, tour the fields.  One whole field of Sideoat Grama.  another experiment of alfalfa/some kind of European grass mix.  While there,

sticking up from the dirt by a fence post.  an Exquisitely rusted thing….

drive the ancient Datsun truck back home.  watching the temperature gauge…running HOT,  but we get here.  I'd forgotten how totally Wonderful it is to drive a Datsun truck.  My old truck, a 1972 Datsun, BlueBird, lives at Bill's for the past several years.  She is a farm truck.  has a solar panel for her battery.

and in the midst of it all,  the Salt Cedar came into full bloom.  the Scarlet Tanagers will be here any minute.

I had a “Bluebird” too only she was a massive Oldsmobile Roadmaster stationwagon that safely carried me and the babies until they were kids. Lordy she had and appetite for fluids of all kinds.
Scarlet Tananger! Did I ever really see one or only had my finger bookmarking that page always in the field guide! Take pictures if they give you the chance!

this salt cedar blooming–very similar to the blooms of our red bud trees. we don’t see many/any scarlet tanagers–but galores of cardinals. and it is lovely as you suggest.

the Tanagers are here for such a short time…only for
the salt cedar it seems. this is a migratory corridor.
i’ll try for the pics but they are very skittish. maybe
if i wash the window i can get a pic through it???

for some reason, they dangle upsidedown to get what they
want from the blooms…they look like those very elegant
    christmas ornaments

well..no cardinals here at all. we all have a little something,
    tho. that’s nice.
and just again, Salt Cedar is considered Noxious here. the state
is trying to eradicate it. but bees love it too

ah Tamarix, so beautiful but can be a problem in the dry lands here in Oz too. A friend gave me a beautiful word picture of the dry creek beds in Greece making rivers of pinkness in spring and I love that!
