this is pretty much it.  a couple more thread beads of the Day that are in the space of the night.  but otherwise…finished.  and i will put this pic twice here.  one at the end too.  it has been with me since the other day when i wrote what i did about remembering Chogyam Trungpa's teaching on Basic Goodness.   so…this altar cloth, this Teaching has been very much the center of the days since then and continues to be.    Things in this small world here and in the larger world Out There have been challenges, but this Teaching of basic goodness has held me, has been my focus, my intent.

i talked to a woman who is a GOAT PERSON, up north some, and let her know that little Grace and Barbara are for sale.  little Grace is a very excellent goat and Barbara is what might be referred to as a Utility Goat, even with her breeding credentials.  this is because of her scurs.

and little Grace

i will also put an ad in the local paper.

then, there is the Scarlet Runner Bean

and i just liked this little tangle of effort

and the result from some iris blooms that Tawanna, my favorite cashier at the grocery brought me.  they were pale yellow with a couple rust colored.  don't really love it.  but…who knows.  the dark is the oxidation.

the beginning and the end.  here we are again.  Basic Goodness.

It is a fine cloth, and those are fine goats, and that vine–fine, fine as the tangle effort, fine as the last bead, fine and full of just plain GOODNESS!

i am deep inside this Goodness. looking. listening.
    thinking…
“good, good in that it is there and it works and it is efficient”/
    more
“We often take for granted this basic law and order in the universe, but we should think twice. We should appreciate what we have. Without it, we would be in a total predicament. If we didn’t have sunlight, we wouldn’t have any vegetation, we wouldn’t have any crops, and we couldn’t cook a meal. So basic goodness is good
    because
it is so basic., so fundamental. It is natural and it works, and therefore it is good, rather than being good as opposed to bad.” again same reference.

goodness is happy making seems to me—and, somewhat related (really all things are related and relative)”Just stop for a minute and you’ll realize you’re happy just being. I think it’s the pursuit that screws up happiness. If we drop the pursuit, it’s right here.” James Hillman

Basic goodness: More than anything, what I will take with me from our sojourn in the deep South is the most basic of gifts – the treasures of the land. TN is where I began to bundle cloth with foraged windfall and begin the dance with color and cloth, a dance that will continue in a new place. As an homage to it all, I rolled my last cloth bundle the other night – a little white cotton terry cloth hand towel stuffed with TN wild onion, crabapple leaves, vinca vines, a bit of nettle leaves, a few oak leaves, some switch blade grass that is turning from green to burgundy, and this time of the year in TN, fields of buttercups as well as some lovely tiny purple flowering weeds that after all of this time, I still don’t know the name of. The bundle is wet and in a baggie, normally it would be in a glass jar but I’ve packed all of them. It soaks up the TN sun out on the back porch and gets bathed by the frequent rain storms that seem to come this time of year, every other day. When we leave next week, it will get tossed into the trunk of our car and ride with us to New Mexico. This last bundle, a ritual of gratitude for the most basic of treasures, the gifts of the land.

I would like to wish you welcome to New Mexico. I hope you will find some of the same spirit here, in different format. This land holds many treasures, too. It is more home to me than anywhere I’ve been.
(And please, if you could, bring some of the rain with you?) Safe travels.

Thanks Kat for the welcome and for the safe travels. The Irish have a good saying when one is traveling- safe home. New Mexico is known to me through dear friends and family and we have made many trips to the land of enchantment. It has long been a place that has held deep in our marrow…

    Martine, dear and Best Martine
DON’T look for your box with english…not necessary at
all, not at all. you come through just so great As Is….
and the Goats. yes. some must go. but this is not at all a sad thing. these two will go to begin a herd somewhere else. it will be Their Herd. here, both are younger does. not
the Really Young Ones, but the middle does. They are
READY. it’s possible that both will be bred before they
leave..and so, go with kid inside. This is Good. the REASON for Dairy Goats is to create herds of milk/cheese making goats. Here, i can only do so many at a time. if they Go, they can
    CONTRIBUTE
to the well being of the Planet.
so…it’s good. it’s Basic Goodness…..”in that it is
there, and it works and it is efficient”.
    i love you

    I love you and….SOON.

the stitching in the center is so fine and it is a cloth worthy of an altar… I am wishing I was more centered in a sense of basic goodness, mine and others… it has been a season of struggle, of addressing conflict and inadequacy. Spring helps. Reading your words helps. Making a commitment to breathe and allow others to be who they are (good or not) helps.
