112 ~ Solstice Eve

so…the floor got fixed.  that was all day.  and the weak fencing strengthened.  Finis.

and Cindy came…had only a short time, but i showed her Everything and posed a Billion What Ifs.  it was really GRAND.  she reassured me.  she was one huge SMILE about it All.   She misses her Goats and was GLAD to be here, GLAD to be of use, GLAD to share all she learned in her Goat years.  She even LOOKS FORWARD to COMING BACK…this i could tell….so….it can't get any better than that.  She will come by again in a few days or so and is confident that the disbudding can wait.  the little martians are little.  the others are OK.  i am going to  go with her judgement.  so for now, through Solstice and through the weekend,  there will be Peace.

and Jamie and Talulah and her friend Jora and Jora's Mother came to visit the baby Goats.  after that, a short visit, because it was still Hot and the Goat babies were panting,  Talulah and Jora took up where they had left off when they were last here together.  They are a famous restruant, like the French Laundry.  they made some kind of braised fish and well…i can't think of it all in the moment, but they made it on the grill and over on the table in the Feather Grass and presented it to their mothers.

and …WORLD….HEY!….look at this.  One mother of a lesbian couple and this "turkey baster" daughter, Talulah.   a Second Mother, Jora's mother with some kind of rare M.S.  Multiple Sclerosis, age 44.   Look.  Look Hard.  Women.  their daughters.  here…words elude.  

and then…coming in from watering, here on the cutting board, this Cricket….enjoying  Life.  this cricket.  taking it's Place.  this Cricket.  my housemate, i guess.  so…O.K.  Tomorrow, Solstice, 2013 i am going to guard with my life.  NO ONE comes through that Gate.  NO ONE, no matter what.  i will stitch on the altar cloth.  i will just Go with the scrap feed mulching of the vegetables.  i will look.  Look Closely.

    Oh I have been waiting for you to show up. I wanted to hear how it was with cindy there. And too have been wondering when tahlula would come to see the babies. That most adorable girl whose picture with the baby goat stole all of our hearts last year. So you have it all set up for a peaceful solstice. May it be so.     it is 1:04 am..merry solstice….i could not sleep so i went out and watched the moon..it is behind the big oak trees…looking beautiful but rather contained afteer a week of seeing it in a huge sky over mountains and hills…i love this view though and will miss it…
    i am so glad you had a good day..happy about the debudding and cindy’s happiness to have Goats back in her life..to have mothers and daughters and a cricket..to have floors done and fences strengthened ..a good way to put spring away and greet summer…
    may this day, this weekend of peace and cloth fill you…sleepy here but happy to start the summer right here xoxmuch cynthia

    This day, the longest day of the year, begins with the simple joy of watching the sun rise on this Solstice and being greeted by a little lizard who has adopted me, standing by my dye pots, knowing that I always come to check. Take out one little linen piece, bright yellow from a mass of yellow onion skins, and I think it is a good offering for this day. Come in and go to your world and my heart is full: a good productive day yesterday, the caring and help of Cindy who tells you what I felt when I was there, tells you what I think you instinctively know, that the excellent goat herd that Jenny started with the blood lines and the continuing love and care that you have given and give every day, equals a thriving goat family. The sweet, imaginative girls and their Mamas. The world is filled with family. And it brings to mind an old Wiccan blessing for the summer solstice:
    “As the sun spirals its longest dance, Cleanse us. As nature shows bounty and fertility. Bless us. Let all things live with loving intent. And to fulfill their truest destiny.”

    Looking hard at each beautiful face. Thinking about Cindy who you need right now, but who also needs you. Maybe stamina isn’t the word. It has a maleness to it–sort of athletic in tone. Maybe the word is strength. Simple Just Going Strength of women. Ripe with fullness this solstice. Blessings to you, Grace.

    it rained all day yesterday.. solstice.
    today it is cloudy with sun coming through some.
    enjoy your day at home. they are the most precious to me too.
    that and being home alone..
    feels like you have the choice to do anything at all..

    Cricket will attune to new vibrations and will aid in heightening intuition, sensitivity and awareness.     This is just so perfect! It falls right in line with Gemini moving into cancer. Time to let go of all the old that is no longer nourishing. Make room for all that is. Cricket fits into this so well as the message we/i need to hear now.
    I have always loved crickets from when I was little. Their cheery song appearing at night time to lull us to sleep in the summer.
    Grace you have a lot of music in your life there with the crickets and toads. Great portent !

    Beautiful women and full of life beautiful, no gorgeous young girls… all come to see the babies and to share time with you dear Grace..now is the day of the Solstice…your time to just be and to stitch. Here, too, I am stitching and thinking and writing in the journals on the garden and the story of my journey….Marti and Nance have given me sweet, strong thoughts to add to my afternoon writing..cloth in white is growing and becoming…prayer flag with standing stones nearing completion for a friend in Fortuna….this story that you share has become a blessing to me..your stamina encourages me to continue with the practices to build strength..and I continue to be in awe of the transformation of your land from the early photos you shared that live in my memories folder…alive and so beautiful..your embracing of the goats and bringing their lives into yours has added layers of delight to the story…Solstice blessings to you and your animals….and how wonderful now to add the cricket to the picture..Namaste Grace… may this celebration bring a most delightful time into your piece of the earth …… Kristin

    The crickets have been rather insistent at night as I try to go to sleep. Like Solstice, a time for releasing that which works no longer and setting intention for things to come. Thanks to Patricia for that resource for totems – have used Jamie Sams’ reference and Animal Medicine cards, as well as a book by a man whose name escapes me at the moment.
