because of all the RAIN, i continue to see the changes with the rocks…

Rain seeps into the porous parts,  allowing the Beauty to shine.   They are stunning.  and i can squat next to one for so long,  just admiring.

but is this about LUST?, no.  so…what IS?………

This.   This is about Lust.  This is

Fiona

our Spirit Cloth brother,  Montana Joe of Manhandled Threads on Jude's side bar,    Joe,  had been talking on his blog about opening his Shop again.  so i kept looking.  nope.  nope. nope.  and then

SUDDENLY, yes! and right there, was HER.  and i was FILLED WITH LUST!   it's been a Long Time  since that feeling, but it filled me to my bodily edges and then beyond.    i know something about lust, how it rises up, like a fever, but then subsides.  so i asked him to hold her a little so i could see if it would last through that initial RUSH.  and i remembered being asked to do Horse and Lama care for a week and had said no.  because i really don't want to keep doing those things.  I really just want to make cloth.  but then,  i thought about how my son's first and only child will be born at the end of September and how i really want to Honor her…little Giana Alluvial Fan, who will be a very girly girl because of her mother, but also will be my son's daughter and so.

i took the horse care job and said YES to Joe and today, she arrived.  Fiona.  named after my Guinea Hens who were beautiful in the same way.

i want to make her things.  in a certain way, i want to make her things for my son.    and i know what an Effort it seems to be to haul out my mother's old Singer Featherweight, which is such a Beauty but has that electical cord that i trip over both literally and figuratively.  i wouldn't do it.

but ….this, Fiona….no cord.  just waiting to make Her stitches.  Waiting to make pinafores that have many pockets to hold fishing lures and catch and release pliers.   she will be a Fly Fisherwoman, this little girl.  and she will need these pinafores.  yes.  and i can do it with this

truly Magnificant Machine.  Oh, and EEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeee,  just look.

Oh my Dear Grace…what a synchronistic event…to read that that little machine on Joe’s page that sent my wishing self into a tail spin, that had me sit myself down and say, no, you do not need another, no there is someone else for that…let go of desire Kristin. And I let the dreamy self send the desires on the winds…and knew that it was not the time to bring more into a space that was trying so hard to let go of things…must finish the letting go before thinking of bringing in any more…that is the way of things that will allow for space to find breathing room where I create. Then just now…those first photos and I began to have a heart singing joyful song as I saw the designs on the surface of the machine…and sliding down the page I read..yes, yes oh so much yes..Grace has gotten that lovely machine…oh it is so right and you will, indeed make so much loveliness on that Fiona..I have huge smiles of appreciation for your acquisition!

Oh, this is fantastic; last week I found an old Singer in the garbage- of course- and my heart fluttered…is it… a hand crank????? Alas, it was electrified, and in a cabinet that only my wagon would carry…and far from home…so would have been one helluva long walk there and back. Pulling my crazy wagon. BUT, if it had been a hand crank, I would have lugged it home no matter what. What a find this is, what a home it has found. Wonderful.

Sorry, AND, the rocks are marvelous; this must be a desert rock thing, to have many states of existence, reflecting the environment. These stone portraits are beautiful. Thank you Grace.

i read of sewing machine, Fiona and it’s nice but doesn’t make me sing as do the words telling of the new girl grandchild to come in September: Giana…name signifies for me, a precious little being, Makes me think of the name Giada, Jade. She will be a “girly girl” maybe but she will also be a child of the earth for it is in her blood…

such a HUGE SMILE at your words. and if you should ever
really need her, i would so easily Share her with you.
although she weighs a TON to ship.
really…knowing myself well enough…if i were to try to
make this baby things just by hand stitching, i wouldn’t.
i am too self Centered. i want to make my own Cloths.
BUT, i can hand stitch THINGS on her pinafores….once
they are put together with the Fiona. i love the IDEA of
my mother’s 193o something Featherweight. but also, i
know that it has sat in it’s case “over there” for some years now. to take it out, move the table over nearer the
electrical outlet, set it all up…i just Don’t.
but this machine can just BE there…a seam at a time. any time. so…we’ll see. we will just See.

these ARE desert rocks. so much to know and/or learn
about the geological things in this part of the word.
this, as all of them are here, is just from one of the
Fishing Trips. when HE would fish and i would carry and
    load rocks into the Toyota.
i stare at these endlessly. How???could this Happen???
WHAT was happening in the Earth to create this beauty that
is now what SEEMS to be static and complete?, but really,
continues to change in the Wind. i love them with a deep
    and amazed Love

and also how to thread a long bobbin Singer here

Joe sent me a link about how to clean and oil and my guess
is it’s the same one. i’ll check it out tomorrow.
it’s going to be LEARNING…as in threading a long bobbin
    but
i think it’s FATE of some kind.
i’m not into making any “heirlooms”. just stuff she can
wear and that is FUN in the moment and can go into the
Goodwill once outgrown….OR sent back and scrapped into
something else. Practical. Easy. Fast. Simple. but
with some craziness to them…from the old N Mex Gramz.

and as i reread that, the “scrapped into something else”,
i saw something different. maybe a blanket over time of
all the things that are fast and easy. THAT, stitched by
    hand. slow. slow. and slow.

ha! love the pics you took of fiona! the links mo posted are different…and nice because they are videos! the one i sent you is longer and more detailed, but i think the vid might be enough. as you have no doubt notice (and i mentioned somewhere) she sticks a little cuz she needs more cleaning and a good oiling. once done, she will sing like soprano!
did you like the book i included as a gift? i thought it might be a fun springboard for fun ideas! i loved the ruffly panties on the cover (which is why i bought the book in the first place) but have no babies around to make them for. figured i must have bought the book for you without knowing it at the time! ha!

I feel like I am the scene in Fiddler on the Roof where the whole town is inside the young married couple’s house ooo’ing and coo’ing over the new arrival and we pull back to see the new sewing machine on the table! In high school, I sewed very large raggedy ann dolls for all my friends, still have mine waiting for a granddaughter. Have so much fun!!!

I so much miss the old Singer Featherweight (yes, corded) that I used to make my bears and clothes, and everything I sewed. Lost it to the person who stole so much from me, including knowing the loss was happening. (This is cryptic, I know. Not able to be fully transparent.)
On a brighter note – Wonderful news of a new life! And what a beauty Fiona is! Congratulations all ’round!

Hello grace, I’m blown away by your glorious rocks! Looking at the images close up enables you to see SO MUCH. Some of the markings look a little like old roots stuck to the surface. When we moved house about 11 years ago, I was devastated about having to leave my beloved rocks behind. I did however manage to bring a couple of trailer loads to our currant home. Wish I had brought more with us, as our old house and garden were completely bulldozed. Thankfully, the trees and rocks are still so vivid in my memory. Would you allow me to copy a pic of your rock? Hope so, cheerio, Marg ox Oh and your new sewing machine is beeeautiful. And MOST importantly, congratulations on the coming of your new Grandchild oxox

i hope he comes too. it’s still ify. still Up in the Air
but on the phone, he said to his mother…”she is so excited”. i love him. and yes. he has grown. he is a boy now, no longer the buddha baby. no more diapers, no more sippy cup. no more baby. Boy instead. the difference in almost 3 and almost 4 is HUGE.
