spent the day trying to understand how i can do this Cloth.   until just a while ago, i was STUMPED.

what an odd expression, Stumped…..where does it come from?  anyway, i was.  just totally.  and then suddenly,  how i love it when that single sterling moment happens….a scrap jumped.

and it's Strange.  nothing i would have …..chosen.   and really,  i am lost here.  i have NO idea.  is it a dream?   is it as i'd thought in the beginning, … a way to understand something about how i need to BE now?  if that's still true, well….eeeeeee…..

so…i am just Staring in this moment….Wondering.   but it's really just so great…..

    Good morning Grace,
    Love the start of this cloth, Grace. I always admire your good sense of color combination.I just had a close look at the little goat – you’re really, really good in adding an animal or a human figure to your “stories on cloth”.I tried to do that, but it never looked so effortless and natural as in your pieces.

    when i first looked at this i thought–“oh. hmmmm. wait wait.”
    and then i went away and had coffee and came back — listening to the cicadas and then i looked again. and see it now. realizing that my first reaction was my “go to” position–keep it simple (which i never do). and then it all just opened up. this is YOUR story. or maybe it is every woman’s story–and it’s not simple. but layered and rich and full of passion and movement and depth. ALL of this you’ve captured here and it is just so Much. the little scrap you referenced? is it the one in the bottom left corner? because that scrap really acts like magic here–pulling my eyes down and sending them back into the heavens. yes yes yes

    The feeling I get is that you are adding “more” to this piece—bigger pieces, more color–than you usually do. Bolder. Hmmmm

    oh this is just so perfect. the little goat, the grand headpiece. SHE is a powerful, yet gentle soul. I can just tell.

    i had to get up in the night to look at what i’d done…
    well…it’s just pinned
    and all the long strips on the right, just to get the feel
    of the colors…
    and the scrap is that huge piece just under the sky…
    how Totally INCONGRUENT….incongruent with everything,
    with my usual way, with this cloth as it began, well…
    with everything. but maybe it’s exactly what is needed
    here? and it is from the same blouse i made one of the last fiber figures with….hmmmm. maybe will get her
    out and look …
