as long as the mirror is still pulled out, and as long as i have the final pics of the HouseDress still to come,  i took this.  it's the bottom layer.  that which is under the House dress.  what i sleep in.  except for the crocks.   long sleeve shirt, leggings, wool socks.

i worked a little more kantha on Marti's cloth that has been added.  MUCH satisfaction with this.

and Then, guess what i DID?  i read.   R E A D.  not wanting to stop.  the book that India Flint talked about a couple posts ago

and it's PERFECT.  it speaks directly to my Experiment in Purpose Less Ness.  Right there, Right there,  on page FIFTEEN!  right there,  at the end of the INTRODUCTION, no less,   in a place at the end of each chapter, called "Tactics".   she wrote:

"Choose any routine activity and allow it to become an end in itself.  Pay attention to how this feels."

ADDENDUM

IMG_7236f

the last moments of This Day,  i spent stitching.  across and back.  across and back.  i let it be no more and no less than that.  Stitching.  across and back.

Marti isn't much about stitching.  Yet.  OR, maybe never.  she is about the alchemical Magic of the dyepot.  with What Is At Hand.  nothing fancy.  but as i stitch this, i think of wanting to hand it to her when she comes and say….FEEL IT.  Feel what happened with the kantha.  how there is forevermore, no seperation.  and this night of the eve of Women,  i think of me stitching,  Marti and her dye pots,  Jude who Taught me/Teaches me.  these plain but Energetic Stitches.

Love to Us.  yes.

i told him how i thought maybe i had someone to stay with
the Goats, but then, she couldn’t. and he talked about
how it’s ok and fine and they would come here. THEY MIGHT
    COME HERE….and

Thing is, she loves. Loves. the simple events of the

Yes yes the wonder of everyday things. The happiness of slicing bananas for cereal in the mornings, and looking up and seeing pigeons flying wildly. I understand it now.
Nice stitches too. Love the tie dye front piece. It’s all getting better and better.

So fine to drop in just when I’m about to drop out from slow internet problems while trying to stitch together my Hallows Eve blog post for 6AM today…you ar such a looker! The dress and it’s details just inspiring…inspiring even me who barely threads the needle eye before my fingers fumble…your good news~Let it be so. I had a good news phone call too from a yogi/DJ friend in San Diego, CA, who read my ‘help’ note on face book and will be here next week to fix my e-mail access! He’s in town to host a big (200+) dance party and I’m invited WITH my dance partner, Cora Cane…It’s one of those ‘everyone dances with everyone and no one’ events and a buffet too.
So all is well and good enough, and what could be better than that!

i’m so intrigued with the color you got from the bw. here, my vat is brown. not black. not gray. wondering if some mordant or other might make it darker? the stitching, Marti’s cloth, the neckline and side inserts–it’s all so absolutely satisfying and beautiful. my first response was “eat your heart out victoria’s secret” but because i mean it, i’ll just go ahead and say it!

Patricia, in terms of the color that I achieved on the piece that I sent grace, I took some of the walnut dye and put it in an old iron pot and when I bundled the coarse linen type cloth and folded to create a design, I pulled steel wool strands and tucked them in between the folds on the cloth as well as plunked some strands directly into the walnut dye…that plus the fact that we all have different water, could account for the deeper, blackish gray colors that you see. I have to say that the water here where I live, some 87 miles from grace has some interesting properties because I recently dyed with pomegranates that our dear friend Nancy sent and besides the usual golds, I got lavender, purple and black! I would like to attribute this to my “magick” abilities but it’s the water, I’m sure…

this is great information Marti! so i’m thinking iron might be the key. and what amazing results you got with your pomegranates–just imagine that–lavender, purple AND black. sounds like magick to me.
