i had thanked Martine for the recipe for Ellendesoep,  Misery Soup.  and told her that i dream of someday coming to the Netherlands, to Scotland, and then to Australia because of the interesting women who live there.  and she sent this pic,  saying that if i came to live in the Netherlands, i might end up looking like this.   

ISN'T THIS JUST THE MOST AMAZING AND WONDER FULL PHOTOGRAPH??????  i want to dream this.  i want to imagine, if i actually COULD become like this…not skinny, but Robust, and Setting Out….wearing my JudyMartinMorningHouseDress with  a very excellent wool jacket,  beloved Companions………………..oh, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…..

and look at the image in the water.   THANK YOU FOR THIS, Martine.  and keep your eye out, just off shore.  you never know.  you just never know.  that soup is very powerfull.

    Wow – amazing photo! Enlarging working, love looking closely at details.
    Now that could be me easily, though I imagine I would have a boat full of cats – maybe an owl or two as well, and, what the heck, throw in a bear to keep me warm. I’ve got warm on my mind tonight cause its already in the 20’s and the low of 16 is predicted!!!! First dusting of snow this morning.

    i just took a pic of the computer screen that had the
    photo that Martine sent in an email.
    we DO need to know more of this, don’t we. of course…
    your wall, but i’ll find out more. i love it so much.
    and yes. a Crane image….as they migrate those hundreds
    of miles.

    still in the 60’s in the days here…beautiful GLOWING
    HONEY SUN. nights get cold, but again…once SUN is on
    the rise…WARM.
    no snow predicted till the last day of this month….
    the only thing here that’s crazy making is the EARLY DARK.
    eeee. cuts into Life so hard.

    This photograph, that woman and her goats–Perfect likeness in it’s way. I always attribute ‘screen shots’ as just that 0 chots reshot on the computer screen from some other source, also attributed if I know it.
    LOVE the way those small delicate stitches in black are like a text of sorts…the migrating birds are already there in the dye marks…can’t wait to see how or if you transform them into specific cranes. Also love the fact that they seem to be flying from a barron place toward dense foliage I think?

    The Goat Boat…I love it. And there’s a bed here (Oz) for you anytime you come paddling in, I live near a river that runs to the sea so you can just paddle right off the ocean and upriver.

    oh. the one in the back. the goat with the different rack–those eyes. and then their reflection in the water. at first i thought the edge of the picture was their destination–the shore–but no–they’re heading for shore but not there yet. is this braille migration of sorts? feeling the bottom of the lake. sensing the direction–and looking so intently. her expression. she knows who she is and where she’s going. i love her.

    Love your piece, and yes I can enlarge it as well and see all those stitches. The goats in the boat made me laugh, a fantastic image and the woman looks so serene like it just an everyday thing, maybe it is.

    so sorry i dont know the story around this picture Grace. I found it on FB and immediatly thought of you.
    So i make up my own story……..
    Grace if you move a little in that boat, Valerianna can come in with her cats and Yvette with her dogs and we invite every animal lover to join.
    Jude will tell stories during stitching and we make sails of feathers to sail to fairytale land.
    I think its time to sleep now………..

    you know…i CAN look around on Facebook. my kids
    connected me so i could see pics of Julian, the great
    grandson. so, i can. and i don’t even like saying this,
    but it seems so empty there. and truth is, i’ve never
    even gone to your Facebook thingy, Jude. i like you’
    on the MotherShip. but none of this means that for others
    it’s not just the Best thing.
    but you saying there is community there, well, that does
    interest me. do you mean on your Facebook place? or
    all around?

    agree with everything said…this IS a fabulous photo! and a woman who works; hard. Concentrated. Focussed. Guess she’s ‘just going’ Grace? And who’s to say the goats aren’t piloting that boat?
    If you ever hit these British shores, you’re most welcome here in Yorkshire. My cats would be fascinated by the goat scents you’d carry.

    i’ll rethink that word. the group around me yes, but then so many more i don’t know. still not liking it there but everyone else does. because it is easier to deal with the size of an unnaturally large amount of interaction. in the end deceiving.
