here i am…this cloth of Nothing that i somehow like very much and somehow also want to be an altar cloth.   Somehow is a big word here.  i think it might repeat a lot.  it Somehow is about my sense of the godthing.  and i might as well say right away, that all i have is Questions…about the godthing.  i have some experience, having lived this long,  that is deep Mystery to me….but leads me no closer to an "image" of what i might think is god.  and maybe as i go along,  i might change that to Spirit.  i am more at home with Spirit.  my sense of Spirit is very Strong.  again,  from experience.  but then,,,,where/from what does Spirit Come?  so these are big thoughts.  and somehow (again) ,  i want to work them with this cloth.    maybe it can't happen.  but i want to try.

maybe it will be a Cloth of Trying.  that would be good enough.  Trying is good.

so at about 7 oclock of the oh so vague circle you can see some blue that wasn't there before.

this is a cloth i made when i first began on the MotherShip.  i was guessing by looking.  it's missing a scrap of cloth right in the center that i took off to use elsewhere.  but it's my Clothesline and that's First Bird.   it's been pinned to the wall for years.  in direct New Mexico sunlight.

you can see that blue above and inbetween those bottom threads.  that's colored pencil.  and all these years, it has not faded at all.   i think that using colored pencil in a cloth is not Kosher.  BUT,

i am wanting to use it here.  in that Center.  in that vague est of vague part.  i don't know how to do this.  will have to Just Go and see what it is.

You may use colored pencils. There. Now you have permission!!! It’s not like this is traditional quilting where you have to have a certain number of stitches to the inch and all the pieced corners have to match. So yes, it is kosher because you were called to do it! Please do more because its wonderful! xo

I believe we are all god and we are all one. I certainly can be the emissary. So could you. And you have been the emissary for me in the past. So yes. I will claim to be the emissary this time!

and this elder woman in Montana says that colored pencil sound like it is just right..being what it is….what you want…and it stays…can we ask any more of a color than that it stays? Nance…you are so correct.this work is about being a work from the hands of Grace…called to make the piece…and oh yes, it is so very wonderfully wonderful

Your cloth, your vision, your colors and isn’t that what is real: that we do our own thing with cloth, no rules, no set way but creating from what comes bubbling forth from our innermost being. For me, this is the gift and beauty of it all, that who we are, what we feel, what we need, at times, to express, our uniqueness, is what we bring forth.

again. you’ve captured it again. the reasons we do cloth. and how the process pulls it out of us, one way or another. i’m intrigued and captivated by the way your mind works. the eloquence and simplicity of your expression or BIG thoughts. your ability to cut to the chase and reduce things to their lowest–or is it highest–commonality. thank you for this. and for everything else.

spirit, is that which gives us the sense of just going, going. at least it is for me. i always sense a drawing approach in your work. pencil fits then.

I use coloured pencils and paint if that is what feels right, that is part of the spirit within you and all of us when something feels right.
Spirit to me is more meaningful that any godhead, spirit imbibes everything, humans, trees, rocks, water, you can feel it all around you be still, listen and look. But I feel you know.

“maybe it can’t happen. but i want to try.” This becomes its own story. This was very good for me to hear.
And the colored pencil… Is it so different from a pitt pen? From a drawn face?

I wrote all my feelings and they didn’t post, not sure if I can repeat. I use paint and pencils when this feels right. That is the spirit, when things are right. It is in all of us and the trees, rocks, water all of nature. Be still, listen and look, but you know already.

well y’know even if that coloured pencil had faded it wouldn’t be a problem would it? it’s just age and what happens and that’s all in the process, and process.. that’s what art is about isn’t it ? finding the way to express the heart and vision out though the hands…

I don’t know if it matters, it just is. Its a force around the world a bit like in Star Wars it keeps everything together and if we know we can feel it flow round and through us.

yes. it just is. and yes, too big to understand,
but also i find self energized sometimes by the looking
and by creating in my own image, which is this clothmaking
