…..it is said, that we choose, choose everything, even the womb we grew in, and the time to leave it. They say that karma is carried from lifetime to lifetime, that we arrive approximately at the same condition with which we departed, and with time to become conscious again, and to resolve any of those impressions that need resolution. They say that, the masters of many traditions, so that we can take responsibility for all of it. In a way, then, we might belong to our choices. And, Grace, you are right, we can choose to belong to anything, and by choosing, it is so.
    very GREAT post.

Beautiful Alyssia and Julian… I remember when zoe was born…. Those moments are unforgettable… And the feelings that come with them. The hopes and dreams. We do all we can and sometimes it’s good enough. And sometimes not. But in the end who do we belong to… I am guessing that is where you are going , grace. And I ask with you … Who do I belong to? And when will I have given enough?

Deep joy in seeing these photos again of beloved granddaughter Alyssia and dearest little him, great grandson Julian. Bringing forth the next generation – what a gift.
Who do I belong to and when will I have given enough are questions that I don’t often dwell on: it is enough to know that I am a caring woman, a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend to people and the planet. Doing what I can, when I can to love and help and make better what needs making better; to to mindfully care for this little place I call home and that includes the land that we have been entrusted to care for; to listen when words just get in the way; to offer words when they might give solace or laughter. May not seem like much of a contribution in the overall but it is how I move through my life…

    It worked. Whew
so what I said was…”They say we choose everything, even the womb for re entry–they say that so we can take full responsibility for all of it00the masters of every tradition say that…and perhaps it is so. How beautiful this child, and this mother Grace. How true.

    Oh. now it works
Well, what I had said was:
They say we choose everything, including the womb for re entry. The masters of every tradition say that in order for us to take responsibility for all of it. A good way to start being in the present, right?!
This child, and this woman–beautiful and true.

each of us intuitively knows something of deep engagement.
for each of us Circumstance is different, asking for
different response. what is true for one is not necessarily
    true for another.
but No One can carry responsibility for it all. you need
to choose, i think, in order to do anything fully.

Yes, no one carries responsibility for it all and that was precisely my point. You do what you can, you give what you can and you take it one day at a time. It may not be enough, may not qualify for your term of “fully” but it is important to recognize intent, capability and results, no matter if they fall short at times. Two other things to consider: living with someone else can at times, set limits to one’s doing. Also, I believe it is important to focus at times on “self time”; to know when to set limits, to know when to say I haven’t any more time to give and especially to not dwell on perceived ramifications of saying NO.
