a peacefull Wind

IMG_8169f

it startles me to see the wooden fence gate gone

IMG_8172f

it's now sideways, afixed to the second shelter,  for Wind,  some Rain.

IMG_8171f

it is so Empty now.  Without Them.  What would it be like?,  if they were gone?  i try to remember what it was, here, before they came.  before they "took over".  What did it feel like?

IMG_8174f

and this.  at the Mustang Camp,  we are leaning on the fences,  she is talking to someone else  who comments about how thick their coats are.  and i say,  yes.  a lot of brushing.  and she says…

yes.  and i keep it and make…..Felt.

FELT!  fELT!  AND I SAY…….    Felt?   she says Yes!,  do you wanna make some?

so i come home and use the now unused dog brush i picked up from the Old Cowboys today.  it wasn't the best time for brushing…they were still involved in eating,  but of course, Snowbunny wanted brushing.  Some have a thick undercoat in the winter.  Tomorrow i'll see how many.  and then Lucky Star who goes into an altered state with any brushing and scratching.  so.

it just keeps Going.  i don't know what to think.

Yes.. the wheel just keeps turning. I can’t even imagine green shoots. We are buried in snow, not much more space to put it. Somewhere down under, I do feel there is a shifting towards upward growing, or maybe, as you say, its just going.

same here–lots of snow on the ground, melting now and watering the earth. i was looking at the gate-gone image and wondering about the round shape in the background. grist mill stone? no. enlarged it and all i can think is perhaps it’s a septic tank cover? and if so, it makes me wonder why we buried ours–because yes, it was hard to find.

Have been away, just got back, catching up, a lot of reading. I love Hundertwasser’s work, I have been to Vienna to see the museum and other houses but somehow missed out on the 5 skins theory, thank you Grace for talking about this, its a brilliant concept and fits with the permaculture thesis. I must read more.
Still raining here, the land around here is overflowing with the gift of rain but it is not good for the people, we live near the Somerset levels which are below sea level and suffering badly.

i guess now 3 years ago? 2 1/2? the state of NM put out a public
notice in rural newspapers about a Project for Maintaining the
Quality of Ground Water. if you qualified they would come, first come first served, and replace defective septic tanks until the Grant
Money ran out. being old and low income i qualified and TaDa…
new tank, new septic field. and yes. this is one of the covers
there are two, one at each end of the tank, i don’t know why, and
i had always wondered why they left them exposed, but now, it’s
great because they are cement and the Goats whirl around on them
sometimes which is good for their hooves…
    it’s a HUGE tank…i can’t imagine my little self filling it…
    and i don’t have a washing machine or anything…so i should be
set for life…but the covers are there for beyond me…

Felt is Wonderful ! I didn’t know the goats had an undercoat..if it’s very fine, that will be the secret to help make the hair portion and the undercoat felt together..exciting. Okay, Lucky Star into an altered state…god, would I love to see that !! I recall when I’d give the sheep a good rub down they’d sometimes start to fall asleep..have you ever seen a sheep do a circle-bob..it’s hysterical. They kind of get goofy and look…wait…yes…sheepish. Sorry I can’t help myself today but it’s true, they do. Oh, and also, the golden light in some of the photos was very, very beautiful..so lovely to see.

weather wise. But no matter how we can think about it
it just IS. and we do our best.

the undercoat … only really with some of them. it’s
very fluffy. their regular coats are more like dog hair.
and it’s only in spring that the fluff comes loose
yes. Lucky Star’s altered state. she is an odd Goat.
i love sheep falling asleep….thanks for that.
Granddaughter sent some pics from the trip to Eureka…

Grace have not been a part of my life’s journey and only tangentially knew of them from someone who raises them and came into my library. I have so appreciated all of your sharing about their lives, their interactions, desires and behaviors…somehow I believe I know just a bit about what goats are now…and today a friend from Georgia posted this YouTube video link and I just thought about your goat family. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58-atNakMWw&feature=share
Smiled and laughed as I enjoyed them in the video and can imagine a bit how much delight they bring to your land as you care for them. So appreciating your daily communication and story..much wonderfulness each day as I read along as you go and go…much love

Thank You! for this…oh, would they love it…i can
picture it here! i am going to go to the Road Commission
and see about getting one of the cement culvert thingys.
sometimes they have damaged ones. it would be as wonderful
as this, but as close as i probably will get and will also
    work with their hooves.
i am so Glad to send out all the Goodness of Goats…they
are Fine members of the Planet…………
