a Loving sky. a soft kiss on this land this evening.
Tomorrow will mark a year in the life of grace, the cloth maker who spins stories of life through photos, words and especially cloth and thread. grace, aka the goat woman, the permaculture gardener, the wise woman and my dearly loved friend. I am not going to wait until tomorrow to tell you what this all has meant, this year in which photos, words, thoughts, proclamations, worries, wonder, laughter, wisdom, creativity, spirit, all came consistently to connect with all of us who came here.
We come from many places and experiences but what unites us first and foremost is your welcome, your extended hand, heart, eye and soul, your joy in having us share your daily comings and goings.
GRACIAS (Thank You) for leaving the gate open and letting us come in. I don’t think you know how you have enriched our lives. Whether or not you continue to do a daily posting, we will continue to come no matter how often you post for you have crept into our hearts and have found a place in each and every one of us that returns your welcome…Love you.

Oh yes, Marti says it so perfectly. I had started reading your blog just a few months before you made your commitment for a year. I loved you even then, but you are family now. Thank you, dear Grace, for your openness, your insights, your honesty. The cloths, the goats, the crows & lizards, the love of the earth, seeing through your blue blue eyes. Everyday when we are on the yard (at work) late in the day, the children and I watch the crows “go home” (as I say). The children (all under two) are completely into ‘birds’ and I share this love with them and I share the sense of calm with them as we watch the crows go home for the evening. And not a day goes by that I don’t think of you in these moments as I embrace the crows in quiet ritual watching. Your crows on cloth make me want to weep with the longing of a life with more land and less work and commute. I hold your little cloth crows so deep in my heart Grace. Thank you for sharing them.
