Jude…i am in the deepest Gratitude to you for your willingness to make that suggestion.   i Never in my wildest dreams would have thought of it as a solution.  Thank you.   Way More than Thank You.

and i once again had done what i seem to do,  to think i am just trying out possibilities, but then get caught up in the Going.   The scraps were attached only to a thin piece of tea dye muslin.  not enough.  but i really don't want the added energy of harem cloth inbetween,  so i looked for something to use as the "back".   Of course, i looked at all my plant dye pieces, which could have worked,  but then i thought of finding something in the shelves of Thrift Cloth.   This orangy amber was almost it.  but too much.

and then…maybe this blue?,  which was a skirt…it's beautiful fabric….but no.  it's TOO blue.  which makes the point again that i need to really work at overdyeing with plant materials to "cut" the too primary ness of a lot of the Thrift Shop cloth from clothing.   I'll remember now.  it's warming up.  i think that copper pot with Coral Berry might work with this blue.

i looked at this a long long time.  WHY?, is the blue too blue?  and i looked at what remains pinned to the wall…how similar they all are and maybe i need to be daring and use Too Blue.   but i don't want to.

IMG_8388ff

so i found some very soft cotton weave that is just one notch stronger than the muslin .  this is it.  In a way, i wish i could have used the other brighter colors.  but not here.  not for this Cloth.  it's a Love Cloth and this softness is it.  it originally was some kind of runner with cross stitch on it which i haven't quite finished picking out…you can see a little at the bottom.

and i didn't say anything about the slipstream,  the WIND current.  after the first pressing,  i added that piece of Wind and pressed again.   Now it tells the Story.

and i'm thinking about how differently i feel tonight from last night when nothing was going right.  i'm not sure what to think.  Without Jude offering help,  i would have given up.  there would be a great sense of uneasiness to doing that.   Tonight,  it can just Go.   it's not the REAL sky,  not the REAL  "air",  but it is real enough to tell the Story.   so i think about this.  about how i almost gave up.  how i so easily could have.

wow! so good to see this depiction of the lightness of the Air element and so cool that it has evolved with the moon in Gemini!

AIR. YES. AIR is the ELEMENT. and we will need to rely
on you to tell of the moon in Gemini.
i have chosen not to know those things…TOO MUCH to know…
used to rely on my friend Honey Dove…but she is gone with the past…so
    that leaves
    you

Ha well Gemini … Old Man Crow is a Gemini, full of fun, quick wits and dances so lightly on the planet, hard to pin down (you’ll laugh at that one) at home with the wind riding the breezes, catching the zephyrs, hurtling with the fierce Sou’Westers. That Trickster Heyoka energy that crows do so well!

i think i might have mentioned something in whispering white, but i have to look back. anyway. it really gives wind to the cloth here. it’s good. probably it could have been ok another way too. how it might happen is really a big thing.

it’s possible you might have. but i don’t remember it.
    wind. wind is one thing.
    AIR is another
and here…AIR was the Thing. the Invisible. Air
the Bouyant, the Everywhere between Everything AIR…
Invisible AIR but the absolute ingredient to it All.
it’s very very Exciting, this Air.
i have yet to put the invisible stitches, so it’s more to know but just this much is so BEYOND Great
i am so so gratefull to you…but then…you know that,
    yes?

oh to be greeted by a thermal updraft…such joy to come out of a suggestion across miles and what a lovely way to start the day..the air here is still and so clear, the snow so bright it sparkles
do you remember that song..not the best but the words seem to have lodged somewhere
you are the queen of the slipstream with eyes that shine
you have crossed many waters to be here
you have drank the fountain of innocence
and experienced the long cold wintry years
there’s a dream where the contents are visible…
that is all i really remember but it slipped into my head as soon as i opened the post
giving me such a nice start to the day…hope you are equally happy at the beginning of yours

it is funny..i remember my parents remembering songs, laughing at or sometimes laughing privately about pieces of music, words to songs…and now i find myself in ..i guess a similar place..being hit with sudden reminders of music and times..from a such different sources…
well if it had been you..you might not be here now..and i do so value your presence ….still it could have been nice 🙂

Giving up can be so easy, and so hard. I’m so glad you didn’t give up…those wrinkles are perfect suggestions of the invisible movements of air and the updrafts over which the birds can bend their wings.

it’s interesting, this cloth work. Jude calls her most
recent teachings, What If. and if i could learn that…
the What if…if i could expand my mind about cloth work
    to include wondering like that
i realized today, as i stitched down the muslin, that
the beautiful wrinkles of it at the edges were created in
just this way, but not deliberate. they were created just this way of their own accord and i always love that. but i never was able to stand back and look at how it had come to be. to try to replicate it. Jude does these things. i watch and learn.

I’m sure you could have made the other version work, but there is something really subtle and at the same time uplighting (I meant ‘uplifting’, but ‘uplighting’ works, too!) about the white. It is so delicate and yet it holds your figures better.
