it's utterly amazing.   the Sky is brilliant blue with stunning softly drifting white clouds.  Sun SHINES.

and yet…down here,  it's Crazy.   i don't even know how to describe it,  just a CONSTANT non stop Gusting…Hard.  Fierce.  Wild.  Crazy.  the air is heavy with sand and debris,  it's difficult to see,  and there's nothing to do but breathe it in.    and the electricity, which is also the internet has blinked on and off all day.

IMG_8805f

it began like this…one of those Bronze mornings.  just not even moments and then WIND.  so i tried to focus on other things,  but you are distracted,  constantly getting up, walking from window to window to see if everything is ok.  and the walls shake.   and sometimes a Gust will SLAM into the wall and it is amazing that it's still standing.

IMG_8818f

things you don't recognize show up on the newly exposed layer of sandEarth…this beautiful piece of copper wire.

IMG_8814f

i worked on the Cloth in the living room.   it feels less "exposed" than the Room, with all it's leaky windows,  sand flying in.  and i looked to my right a lot,  at the  piles of Goat undercoat.   just starred.  somehow they held my attention.   there was some relief in meditating too.

and i think i'm finished here.  i think there is nothing else needed or wanted.

IT IS! and i can’t even speak of it to the degree of
    WHAT IT IS….
and so strange here, with no other “weather” along with IT. no rain, no dark clouds…it is so odd.

On occassion we have what we call windstorms, somehow I think they pale to what you describe. I can’t remember the last time I was in a wide open sky place…sigh.

In the blink of an eye, sky went from sandy to gray, rain drops coming now, winds so very strong, once in a while a howling comes and the Earth flags are holding fast tied to the pear tree, dancing fiercely, pear tree branches bending as if doing yoga poses; pear leaves flung to the ground. Just now opened front door and it felt like winter, air is so cold. Needed to see if the Chinese Pistache trees were doing ok because those gnarly burgundy green bud knobs that morphed into tendrils overnight have become delicate green leaves but they seem to be holding, none on the ground.

And now as if to signal something, a double rainbow so close that it is as if I could cross my backyard, climb the brick wall, hop over into the next sandy field and touch it – amazing and quite the gift.

The end of Saturday and I’ve been listening to Ethel Waters because I’m crazy for her voice–http://youtu.be/fRi8_uIsIT0–AND her story too–“She was born to a 12 year old mother, Louise Anderson, who had been raped by a white man, John Waters. Although she was raised by her maternal grandmother, she took her father’s surname. Reared in poverty, she left school at the age of 13 in order to support herself through domestic housework.”–more amazing story if you want in the notes below this early song at you tube–http://youtu.be/GHXP2FSETVw

how sweet it is for us to be able to enjoy like this. reading all of the comments from different ones in different places, with different terrains and atmospheres, and over many hours. I am at seven am and it is quiet, cool and very green and woodsy all over. Birds are eating and communication between them is pleasing. no wind here at the moment but cool moist air. we may soon have rain. I look out the window at my (jacob) tree, my tree of struggle and survival surrounded by many more live and water oaks, so it is tall and has sparse cover in order to stay alive for so many years with the older fuller ones. i go there for meditation because i can almost hear it working so hard. All of you bless me — thank you.

this cloth is over the moon. the blue. all that the blue is holding, tied into the wind stitches and the travelers and the embryo–dot in diamond. holding so much promise. like the first pic–the sun’s touch, warming…a reminder. but the wind. oh, that kind of wind disturbs me. experienced it only one time–at the flea market in Santa Fe. it was too much. different in some way from the winds here–hurricane winds, tornado winds. wonder what the difference is?

the wind here has finally calmed..and ..it was followed by rain ..it is rather magical…watching all the follow the water mists going straight up. into the air instead of the swirling mists of the past few days…and it is silent, just rain falling..no howling…but when i went to open the back door and peek outside…it was not a gentle day..and back here i peeked at the weather forecast..and saw ice pellets written in over several of the days to come…
such a new world to me..on the outside ..but then , also…i love the small daily adventure of coming here…never knowing exactly what i will find..affirmation..a new world to consider…but this morning it was quit perfect to see the last shape, the diamond ..when i was little my family went to the library on friday nights..and then got ice cream on the way home…sort of an agonizing treat because you could not read in the car in the dark and you had those new books just right there beside you..
the library however..which had a wonderful separate children’s section ..a huge room off a courtyard full of tulip poplars…was closed on evenings and so you were limited to the several shelves of appropriate books for children ( oh we went often not a problem) anyway some wonderful person filled these shelves with fairy tales and folk stories and legends…we had just moved from san francisco to the east bay and suddenly had not Golden Gate park but the coastal hills and best of all creeks to explore…and these books were full of Native American symbols ..although really when i was little they said Indian Myths and Legends..but we swallowed them up..which we etched and scratched in to eucalyptus bark and scrub oak branches..and the diamond grace..the wind…the four winds.. we left messages with rocks and shells.. and we rode wind riders..our bikes over the hard packed adobe…
i cannot believe what a long forgotten set of memories that small shape has set off..may your morning be full of such a nice surprise as well

i hope the wind has calmed for you, it can be very unsettling – but it can also uncover so much of interest
i love the gentle furling of your flower petals and the way they bring a burst of warmth to the cloth – the couple look to be good companions, i’m not keen on reptiles but this one has a friendly appearance and i am warming to her
