i want to put these here this morning.  they say a storm is coming.  and i really needed them to be here, in case Electric goes out.   i will come back later to put some words if i can,  but if not,  Jude has words over at the MotherShip…Spirit Cloth….

There are so many things to say,  but  really,  the words here and All the words in the book tell the story so much better.   The books arrival came as a complete surprise.  I couldn't believe my eyes.  i read and read and read the childrens words,  went back and read them again.  and continue to.  Many times a day.  the images and the words come at a particularly vulnerable time for me and though i have known of the Strength of these children for a few years,  to see it before me like this is such an affirmation of the Beauty of humankind, the great capacity of creating one's own story to heal.   Wendy uses the words "rugged determination  in creating a meaningful life".  Rugged Determination.

only that first page is of Wendy's voice.  All the rest,  words of the children.  and as i continue to read,  i am so struck by how they took their Places among us,  the Makers,  and found such strength of vision,  strength of their own stories.   how they Worked.

So beauty Full.  so full of Heart and such a gift to Us,  encouraging Us to believe in Ourselves,  in Basic Goodness,  and in the simple work of Making.

“maker people of cloths…you are my friends…you are my tribe…”
We have been speaking of the fate of the planet, of humanity. We have felt despair, risen in anger and we have also held – to stand and face and know that we all matter, that we are connected, to wonder what we could do. grace is one of many in the fiber community who have put their hearts in their fingers to come to the aid of Wendy’s children. To me this is tikkun olam, the belief of mending the world, in action.
I’ve thought a lot about how to care for a world with holes, children who are torn by society’s ills, a planet that is shredding, day by day. What i have witnessed from grace and other woman who speak with their cloth is that they are living boro: taking it upon themselves to use needle and thread to mend and lift spirits; to give hope and light where there has been darkness; to show that by living boro, help comes in incremental ways that add up to a cumulative effect, helping to mend the hurt, the sorrow, the fear, mend lives, one stitch at a time, one cloth at a time, many hearts. threading along…

I didn’t know about Jude when the feathers were floating. But I do know about shells, people have been telling me to come out of mine since I was about 10 years old, I’m trying its hard. Every time I come out of mine I get hurt. Its easier to stay inside. This project is so great, so feeling, so spiritual. Life is hard and in comparison with many, my life has been easy.

I WAKE AND LOOK AND AM SO MOVED. I want to quote Mary Oliver, Mark Twain and Krishna Murti, Alice Waters, Joanna Macy and the Gita, James Taylor, Grace Slick and the Eqyptian Book of the Dead, Yeats, Virginia Wolf and “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, The Whole Earth Catalog, The Dead Sea Scrolls and James Hillman. But I’m too weary to look it all up, so I’m sending a BIG HUG with BIG LOVE stitched inside.

    It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
    small stones, just
    pay attention, then patch
a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
    a contest but the doorway
into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak. Mary Oliver
because my words just keep tripping over each other…and so much is contained here…i feel like Michelle so many words fill my thoughts…mu thoughts are echoes of all the above..so grateful to have all of this touch my life

I just finished a novel where the main character, a 60ish woman, says “I am tired of being AGAINST things. I want to be FOR something.” This is the perfect illustration of that.
