I stayed home today too. It was very good. Love the colors in your love letter…and you’ve reminded me that I need to plant more mallows.

Well… I have marshmallow in the garden right now. I used to have big pink ones and zebrina, a purple one which will naturalize here. Oh and a white one. And some like the one you pictured. I’ve bought them as starts at nurseries and planted them from seed. They are tough and easy to grow here too. They are in the hollyhock family, less fussy though.

A few black stitches and two pieces of colorful cloth BEcome butterflies. I’m looking back and forth from the last post to this. Happy magic.

Oh my–how charming! You have become absolutely charming. How Spring of you. I hope, now that things are brighter from the new right eye lens, that I too might become charming too.

The colors of the butterfly match the sky from the other morning, vividly spectacular.

so much flight–soaring–rising above. i’ve looked and looked at this and each time it’s new. right now, the blue in the bottom right looks like it’s soaring over the earth and behind that, the butterfly gently carrying you(?) with it.

    ah that’s just so !
BTW was talking to my sculptor friend Bronwyn yesterday about how “pretty-ness” can detract from the work and she said pretty works when it creates a contradiction with the idea, the friction becomes contentious.

Oops! that’s just what I thought about on the way home from the mountains on the train that idea of oxymorons and contradictions and contentiousness in art…
what Bronwyn said was the one word
    “Toughness”
Pretty needs to be tough in this wild old world, and that’s a lesson we all learned such a long time ago!

this concept of contradictions and contentiousness is something I’m working closely now but in words, not cloth. it’s trixie when there are only words on the page but so satisfying when you get it right.
