stopped at the Thrift Shop on the way down from seeing Alz. B for the first time in over a week.  (They had Norovirus and did not want anyone coming in and out.  Today that was lifted and life will go on as usual.)   This dress was there.  It's homemade.  It's perfect.  Can you see the repeat of the inverted triangle of the pockets …their flaps?    and i don't know the correct words,  but the pattern of the cloth  (cotton) for the skirt  was also cut in an inverted V,  perfectly matched.  Who made this,  i wonder?  My intention is to take the sleeves off,  the collar,  change the buttons and turn it into a Hose Dress.  (Hose Dress:  light cotton dress that as i work outside in heat,  i hose self down …with the hose….and as the water evaporates,  i am cool)  But now as i look at it,  i'm not sure i can do that.  Someone went to great lengths creating this dress.   hmmmm.

a very fine plain light weight silk jacket.   Back to Jude's Contemporary Boro.  21 century Rags.  But i have maybe 3 or 4 like this already in some basket or other.  Why did i bring this home?

and similarly so,  Yet Another pair of perfect overalls.  Just to the point of nicely worn.  Route 66 brand, these.  But i already have a pair.  and so, the question of Why arises again.

and this.  A pillow case.  Again, homemade.   There is a darkening in the middle…both sides….a stain.  It smells nice,  is nicely washed,  but the stain gives it some kind of extra feeling that is ify.  I am guessing it's from the head that lay upon it.    A head that used some kind of hair product.  Am thinking of a man's hair product.   But i am a sucker for this kind of old cotton print.   i like it a lot.

I made a quick run to Walmart for the Old Cowboy's essentials.  10 frozen Banquet Turkey Pot Pies  (pretty much all he wants to eat anymore),   Walmart bakery Cinnamon Swirl Bread,  Halls throat lozenges,  the rootbeer hard candies he likes,   and i threw in a bag of grapes which he will let rot in the refrigerator.  Dropped all that off.

Stopped at the Other vet and talked to him.  Made an appointment for Thursday at 3 for him to come and trim Magic's scur.    We'll see if it goes better than the last scur trim for Barbara who was ostrasized for 3 days because she bled.   Part of the reason that happened was because i didn't hold her well enough.   I explained that to this vet,  a different one,  and he just listened patiently and said yes, well, ok.   So i am visualizing well ahead how i need to hold Magic.  but she is  a strong Goat and very uhhh,  headstrong.  Thursday.

all that and i cleaned Allen's house which is the home now for Thing One and Thing Two,  two kittens.   It's an Event.    They zip from object to object like tiny meteors….are barely visible because of their speed.

this small soul waited here at home.   There is a very thin copper thread.  Loosened from a Chore Boy Scrubbie.   It was on the floor.   I like it.

Hose dress! Yes, my favorite summer dresses are hose dresses. It feels wonderful and you can survive horrific heat if you’re wet. I think it would be a nice hose dress with it’s sleeves a d collar, because it’s a nice dress. The jacket is very nice. I want one of those. The pillowcase is good too, and why not have an extra pair of pants? You aren’t a nun. You can always give them back to the thrift store. Shopping is a cheerful thing to do. I think it’s all we have left of hunting and gathering.

I agree with Tracy–It’s a very nice dress-VERY well cut. If you think you have too many jackets why not tie and dye it? Overalls are wash and wear and two are not too many. That case and it’s stain–If you soak the whole thing in Sal-suds for a day, I bet it comes out. It’s so pretty…even for patches if not a pillow case. Did you see my post on shopping?

What finds, we don’t get anything like this in our thrift (charity) shops and why not have more than one. With the jackets as one wears out you could add bits of another, or line one of them with another so it is warmer.
Not commenting much at the moment but have been loving your small cloths.

i love starting my day here..outside there is thunder and lightning and pounding rain..but the hail of yesterday is gone,,,,and i am warm under quilts, being magically transported into your world…to double click and suddenly have copper wire, gazing eyes and the tip of toes come to life larger and more easily seen…
the dress i love the hose dress..both your actual ones that you have and use…and also this dress..in its potential..i can imagine the person i would feel like if i slipped on that dress..oh the pockets…the repeat of the shape, the flaps, the skirt and then the gentle round of collar and sleeves..with no puff..however you decide to keep it..use it..wear it…because while i truly admire the work of those sleeves and collar they would drive me crazy in the summer heat…i am so glad it came to you …who can look at it..deem it useful…make it useful…and recognize and honor its beginnings…
and oh the new cloth..what a great start to my day…and a good day to you cynthia

Love the pockets on that dress! If I’d made the dress, I wouldn’t mind if you took the sleeves off.

Yes, I can see a little momentary pause in keeping the dress as is but it ended up in the thrift store so to my way of thinking, giving it a new life sans collar, sleeves, etc. is to honor the dress and whoever made it, wore it. Those pockets are telling me such a story and I want to take them off and tie them around my head, sort of babushka style, like I used to do in the 60’s when I had very long hair. Before going outside, you could tuck a few ice cubes under the “babushka” and then go outside, get wet and you are “cool” in every sense of the word.

this comment is a perfect example of why i love it
so much when i see your name pop up….
no. i am not a nun, but close. and two pairs of overalls…seems More. they never wear out.
and shopping at the Thrift Shop on 10 cent Tuesday IS
    like hunting and gathering….WONDERFUL comparison…it’s
crowded, you hear lots of Excuse Me’s as we all move
    between the racks.
Unless someone here wants it for whatever reason…i know
that some collect dresses..i’ll just take it back. when i put it on, it’s Fitted. beautifully so, but too claustrophobic for me. and found that it even has a side zipper! it’s New, but made i’m sure from a Vintage Pattern.
Anybody want it????????? i’d be happy to send…..

they won’t ever wear out because i don’t wear them. just
HAVE them. pretty much i just stick to the zippered
    hoodie sweatshirts.
but i LOVE the idea of lining one with another…..
Who knows. maybe one of these days i will suddenly
have the Urge to wear them??
Thank you for saying that about the small cloths…
You had your Gallery Showing…that was a LOT i’m sure

She, i assume, did SUCH a care~FULL job of it.
…stuff Matching…back to what that young woman said to
me a long time ago when i was in agonizing lust over something in that store that was too expensive for me…
“the reason you love it so much is because you have
    something Just Like it….INSIDE you”.
that was young Palma Cady that said that…how wise/
