soul or spirit?

i swore i wouldn't do this,  but…..

my son's daughter.   Giana Lily,  but who i wanted to name Alluvial Fan.  here on in,  Alluvial Fan.  This is her.  in the tent.  First camping trip.

While i stitched,  the soul rested in the small bowl.   and while the soul rested,  and i stitched,  i thought about what the difference is between a Spirit and a Soul.   i have no real answers yet,  but i am thinking.   There is no firm answer, probably,  but to my sense of things,  there IS a difference.  Thinking.

unlike what i'd thought,  the shelter for this soul will be grasses.  ok.  and  Souls/Spirits…  maybe a Spirit is an entity in and of itself.  Has always been and always Will be.   a Soul might be the Energy Released from  some Being that has been attached to the Life we know on this Planet???

    Its always been a question of mine… its a never ending one it seems, or, everchanging? I find I have a sense of both – soul and spirit – but cannot really describe them in words. Slippery. I’ll be curious if you will find something more solid here. Soul in grasses, like that.

    Well I’m not sure I can define either but to see precious (Giana) Alluvial Fan is to see both spirit and soul. As someone who strips spirit down to a deep reverence for the land, a deep knowing, my heart is just humming to see this little one begin to know her world.
    Soul I think is personal, each one of us will define it differently: When I think of soul, it is a place deep inside of me my inner home. It is a place where spirit enters but doesn’t stay long because spirit is organic and each day that I greet the day, give thanks, sit and breathe in, accept what presents itself, each time that I forage, work out in the garden, I am depositing layers to my soul/inner home, building up my foundation…
    One of my personal heroes and one of the worlds most incandescent Souls died today, Dr. Maya Angelou. She was and always will be a beacon of grace, strength and deep knowing. She said this of soul:
    “A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.”

    Heartfelt appreciation of the beauty of this brand new life force…and the cloth that is evolving.
    As to Soul–well it’s a habit for me to point to the soul of something when I want to describe an essence, and to the spirit of something when I’m trying to describe the qualities. I may play romantically with sprites and spirits as historical entities but here is a rather long worthwhile article from our friends at Wiki (google ‘soul’ and you will find it): Anatta – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatta

    and now that I thought about it a bit, i think they might be the same but really one being more of the sense of the other. one evidence of the other.

    our family is a long line of tent lovers. oh how we
    love tents. my daughter once said that the most
    beautiful sound in the world for her was that of a
    tent zipper…that loooong zipping sound…

    There very well could be. Her Mother, with the Toes is
    Something. My Son, the father, who Loves that mother is also Something. The merging of those Somethings…Alluvial Fan.

    a soul touching post of images and words…and thinking how it is that sometimes we “feel” a name for a person that is other than what they have been called…and so there is another moniker belonging just to us and our relationship with that one.

    both mother and father love the Geologic Event of an Alluvial Fan.
    it really was considered when they knew Giana Lily was coming.
    but no. Too Much.
    but i still love that they thought to name her of a geological
    phenomena. so…
    they say it’s ok. i can call her anything at all. we are easy
    on each other

    what a photo of Giana Lily, I think what I like most here is her complete and utter abandonment to sleeping, made possible by the presence of her parents, she is safe
    and oh I do like camping and how the tent is a window to the world….
