so after a longer than imagined day with the Old Cowboy,  and then the laundromat,  where the washer got stuck on prewash while i went to feed store, grocery store and got gas,  young man readjusted it and i went to hardware came back and it was stuck on rinse.  oh well….

and as the swamp cooler is not yet working,  a naked lady sat in front of the Oscillating Fan named Owen and finished the earth,  began the sky.

Hi Grace, I wander here from Spiritcloth….Your posts/goats/cloths make me smile, make me think, and keep me coming back. I rarely comment, it seems I’m usually playing catch up and comments no longer seem relevant.
Today I smiled, your swamp cooler reference brought back memories of living in Tucson in the early 80’s (young and in love) and then I thought of a fan named Stan instead of Owen…

hey, k…so you’re in Australia? now? This fan is Owen named for
the young man what traveled this far and divested of half of what
he thought he’d need, his oscillating fan, hence, Owen. but i
    really like Stan.
well, i’m glad you felt talkative today, made me happy….
and everything is always relevant, i think. I’ll keep my eye out
    for you…
Tucson. wonder what the temp was There today.
I have a theory that anything up to the norm for body temp, which
is somewhere around 98 degrees is well, just ok. But when the
temperature of the enviornment exceeds the body temp, things
go into a different mode. i felt dizzy loading the laundry baskets
    into the truck.
Goats very cheery Out There tonight, lipping the laundry on the
line, milling around in a good way, even in the dark.
thank you for stopping by and saying hi

Your theory makes sense to me.
“Today’s high was 107 degrees — tying a record for the date set in 1996 — at Tucson International Airport, according to the National Weather Service.” Makes me glad I’m in Ohio (not Austrailia, I’m just a ‘fan’ of Michael Leunig)

different responses to heat…i actually am very OK with a LOT of
    HEAT. that lizard factor….
and thing is the heat here …. dry. no humidity. huge difference.
and you will know about that. so…Ohio, 104 and humid would drown
me for sure. here, just move a little slower, take off my clothes.
By the end of the week we are back down in the 90’s.
i have come to know and appreciate Leunig through Mo Crow.

and then, too, the nights of those HOT days are magical. Right now
there is WIND, and the symphony of OwenStan and WIND is so good,
and it cools cools cools as the night presides and then there is
    morning.
morning. soft. cool. and so incredibly SWEET

104… 40 degrees Celsius, that’s Hot! fry an egg on a rock outside sort of weather but good for getting rid of the Bronze Orange Bugs on the citrus here in Australia, they climb down the trunks and nestle in the shade at the base of the tree so it’s easy to pick them up, put them in a bag and stomp on them, they are also known as stink bugs because they squirt a corrosive acid that burns & can blind you if it gets in your eyes! Ariel tried to play with one when he was a kitten and the acid burnt his paw so bad it blew up like a balloon so I am definitely not a Zen being when it comes to them!
On the really hot days we hang wet sarongs in the doorways as well as the big oscillating fan.

i am sitting in London early morning with a wool shawl around my shoulders and another over my lap. i miss those days of sun and hot weather. we never really get them in Seattle, but long ago and far away in Southern Illinois it was like that.
i always worry about the animals with their fur coats will get too hot.. guess they know how to take care of themselves.
    sending love to you

yes…Owen the Fan is very quiet, just a small sound of occilation,
and how it comes and goes, comes and goes, feeling the sweat
evaporate from skin, needle in, needle out, it’s mesmerizing

more and more hearing of Australia, i am amazed. You
have extraordinary insects…on an Island….how did
that happen???? Makes me wish i could learn so much
    about how these things occur..
and the wet cloth. yes. same principle as the Swamp
    Cooler.
