a correction.  I got an email from Hilda who lives in Willard, NM which is just as much in the middle of nowhere as this is,  maybe even more,  and Hilda is who helped me identify the HUGE grasshopper last year as a Lubber.  Hilda pointed out that this is NOT lavender,  but rather Russian Sage.   And i Laughed,  because somewhere down the line, a long time ago i knew that,  but had just kept referring to it as Lavender in my mind until,  well,  i guess,  it became Lavender.  But it's NOT.  It's Russian Sage.   THANK YOU HILDA!!!!   I love how even tho i might not have a clue,  things are being kept track of here and noted and ….cleared up.  Smile and Happiness.

and then

IMG_9777

i received a very nice note from Sue at Colourmart saying that this COBWEB silk is no longer offered as it was not a popular weight.  How WonderFULL was that…a response overnight even tho it wasn't what i'd hoped????????????????   so, ok.  don't know now what.

Tay BARKED during the night and i got up….turned the "porch light" (for what it's worth, not much ) on…it looked like this

IMG_9799f

Finished.  Ready to mail.

IMG_9801f

and i realized that it wasn't at all the White at the very top edge.  I really like that a LOT.  it's like Clouds.    But rather it was the moment of transition from the blue to the orangyyellow.  So.

and for a while,  i'd had the feeling that there was something on the Rolodex that was important.   I had seen something on TV many years ago,  MANY,  about Wild Dogs of Africa.   And i remembered, prompted by the Rolodex that somewhere around was a National Geographic i had kept about them.  The Nat Geo did not refer to the thing i saw on TV which was overwhelmingly touching and difficult and BEAUTY FULL,  but it was what i had.  So i hunted it down.

and there are HUGE differences,  the first being that the Wild Dogs of Africa are not dogs at all but an individual species that we see as dog like.  And two,  i don't mean to romantisize Ta y.  She's a dog.   But she has behaviors that take me back to these Beings….the mouthing,  the pack intensity,  the long stick like legs interwoven with bodies, heads and legs.   I see what i was looking for…that if she could have it Her Way,  we would be like this.  This pic above which is how the pack CELEBRATES  at the end of the day….

and it helps me with understanding what i am asking of her when i say No Bite,  No Feet!   How i am asking her to stop expressing something that is very strong inside her that has total different meaning to her and to me.

    Evening, Grace,
I learned a lot about my dog, Nellie, border collie, by studying wolves (status, socializing, etc.)..it helped with our “silent” communication that I’ve mentioned to you before…it was beautiful and she and I were so fortunate to have each other. My wish for you and Tay is that one day you have something special too.

right now, in this moment, it Goes. She and Chinche…
out…Out in her hideout that she created in the weeds under the Salt Cedar. They have some marrow bones out there.
Chinche is IN THERE with her. Chinche is being a part
of something she never was before and she is changing because of it. It’s something very Amazing and Tender to see. Tay is “allowing” her to be the Alfa. Chinche who is such an
    “invisible” dog all her life…
I watch all this. I want to be a part of it that makes
SENSE. and this requires watching, waiting. Taking
    great Care.
I thank you…HUGELY…for watching us as we go. Helping this way.
Pack/Herd it’s the same, isn’t it?. I am trying to learn. Goats are patient. they watch too.

Grace, the thread you are looking for is a 60/2 silk weaving yarn. If you Google that, you should be able to find several suppliers. It is not cheap, but I’m sure that you could find someone who could send you a sample so you can see if you like it as well as the ColorMart stuff. Good luck!

Your porch at night looks otherworldly. The sun takes all the color with it when it goes and leaves the essential shapes. No background distraction….everything is simplified.

I find it very moving that Chinche and Tay have developed this level of being with each other already..and yes, pack/herd are the same and we are but one more animal finding our place in this world…I love that you are watching, waiting..Aha, more weaving in and out the threads of our lives together (a big weave for Jude’s class, hmm?).

Ha–I should have recognized that Russian sage…a favorite. Used to have it in the church garden too. Lovely cloth ready to mail. I love the conclusion of it, and the color palate too. dogs and yourself deepening your inter-species conversation, shifting to more inclusivity…very special that, and how delightful ‘Chinche’ has a canine-smart new companion…Tay, like any new member deferring to her rank. Delightful.

“moment of transition”…yes, that just about says it all:
Knowing that the loving beautiful cloth for granddaughter is complete after that moment.
Your rolodex that brought that moment of recognition, understanding how Tay is who she is and how to go forward.
Chinche and Tay transitioning to finding their hideaway in the salt cedar…as my son in law’s dear father says when things sort of fall into place, “it’s all good”.

The porch night photo looking like an amazing still life drawing. This beautiful cloth finished with intense love. I hope it will give a sense of why old nana lives in the middle of nowhere. It does for me anyway…

Just left a comment in the forum on the gold weave. Here it is even more thrilling as I see that the threads I mentioned in my other comment lead off to that mysterious little nine patch far beyond all those rolling hills and valleys. Perhaps the answers lie there…..

i asked Jude’s permission to use the black and white here, because it is so much HER. and because it was a personal cloth a granddaughter cloth, i used it. Otherwise, i couldn’t have.
it IS about the Mystery. the mystery that is always very clearly there but always we are unsure………..
Thank you for looking…Nice. Nice that you come and see stuff and say words.

Here is what I love … that you are able to take these amazingly different bits and weave them into a layered, coherent whole. And I couldn’t believe that you were letting it go (putting it in the mail) until I realized it was going to a grandchild … which is the best of all possible places for a creation to live (imho)

Liz, thank you for your good words here…this is what i’ve learned
from Jude. And the part i love most is that except for cloth dyed
by Deb Lacativa (which is also recycle), everything i use is
plant dyed recycle and then bits of recycle clothing…from the
    thrift shop here in town.
and i have no desire to hang on to things i make…if she
hadn’t asked for it, it would have gone into the little shop which
helps support the Goats. I live in a small space and only so
much can go on walls. I no longer am ok with keeping things in
drawers. And the joy for me is in the making of whatever is Next.
again, thank you for your words…coming from you, having seen
what you are doing, they mean a lot.
