so…finished.  Maybe i'll do more stitching…just double split back stitch…on what is here now,  but probably not.  She might wear these pants once or twice.  Will out grow them by Thanksgiving.  and I'm not much into stuff that will be kept forever.  This is their only child.  So not a hand me down.  Just a ….well….a gesture.   Just a gesture.  Kind of in place of words,  from this Grandma.

and i worked some at basting randomly the loose pieces just so i can take to the Laundromat.

And absorbing the meaning of Change,  the meaning of Just Going from Jude's  Post today,  i think about all that has come to me in the last few years.  How much i have found in Relationship with cloth…she refers to this as Sympathy….but i don't use that word.  I would say Relationship.  How much i have come into Relationship with cloth, thread, string.   Dye.  There's a lot to think about.

and since the new Way will be silent,  i think about how much i have loved the comments in the segments.  How they have meant almost as much to me as the Posts.  Many Eyes.  Many Hearts.  and this is something i think i might miss a lot.  I think so.

So….that's it for today.  Sonny the truck is back home and running like a mustang.  SUN is drying the land, moment to moment.  Tomorrow a new half ton bale of Alfalfa comes.  Life goes on.

BETTER than words is this gesture–MUCH better. The way will be silent? Are you stopping the blog? Hope not.

I have loved the comments on Jude’s blogs too, so I am a little bummed, but willing to, as you all say…Just Go on into the future. We’ll see how it is. The fishing pants are a beautiful gesture to your granddaughter…. so full of love. I’m glad things are drying out.

when i was little..really little i had some overalls with a lovingly embroidered little bird and tree on them…i can remember sitting cross-legged rubbing my finger and thumb over them and feeling .happy..i loved them, and i felt loved..even though there were no words in my head saying that,..that is the feeling that was there..,the bird was made for me..and ..well how strange to think how long ago..and i can still see them so clearly…such a gift you send, grace..
this has been such a strange summer ..and i cannot even explain how important visiting the forum of the weaving class has meant to me..the interaction was such an addition to the joy of the class itself…so strange to realize how much of my world..a very real world to me exists here on a screen..i was quiet there..not for lack of thought..just being there was another kind of gift…so much change here..so much quiet in my life..it is a pleasure that i will miss..but oh so glad that i was there..and so very grateful that you are here…gentle day grace

Coming here the next day, Sunday, the International Day of Peace, I look at the tile of this post: “not much, but some” and to me the Some is the whole of it:
Outside hanging on my pear tree, my garden flags, made with strips of dyed cloth from gleanings mostly here from New Mexico, wave in the breeze. These strips of cloth hold Intention, hold Love of the land, and yes I will say Hope for the future of the planet. Hope is a huge word and also a treacly kind of word. Some of you don’t use it, don’t care for it, smacks of a Hallmark rhyme but without it, what do we have? So I hold onto it through the anger and sadness of what is going on in the world today and believe me, some days it is very, very hard to do. I stitch tatters, placing them in a tree, letting the wind circulate in and around, uplifting a thread or two sending it out into the world, sending what is not seen.
And in this place, windthread, where we have come together, using our words, opening ourselves, sharing what matters to each of us, Some becomes ALL because it’s what we women of cloth do and it all matters; this is how we stand and face and do it over and over again…

    Dear Grace,
I have not commented before – and thought about doing it so often – but I must tell you that your posts have meant so much to me for the last 2 years. Your love of cloth, the goats, and so much more. Your honest sharing of a good life, a life lived simply and full of awe and wonder at what life offers. That has spilled over in to my life. Your photos of beautiful New Mexico and its colors. Your life so full of color. I have especially loved reading about dear Tay as her story has unfolded, and Chinche and Tazmeena. I love the very fine faces of the goats and am so touched by what you have done to give them a good life. I hope that I have misunderstood and you will continue sharing here but if not, I thank you with all my heart and will always think of you as dear Grace.
    With love, Stephanie

(((Grace & everyone))) was feeling all sort of odd and a bit bereft here in the small hours of this morning with my first coffee and then I came here and read all these good words, we are all “just going” as Jude says, the circle holds.
are you going to repair that rag rug or fully reweave it?

They are amazing..their ages range from 24 to 52. Larry is very proud to support them as a Fire Commissioner. They went to the Academy (as unpaid volunteers) for 13 straight weekends for their initial training. All over the country there are folks like this…it is a Fine thing, indeed.
We’ve had lots of little to medium fires and one big one that was about 12 miles south so we were very fortunate. Hoping this new rain coming in tomorrow night makes it’s way eastward to some very bad fires.

Repair. and learn from the repairing. I want to use a lot of
the Thrift cloth that i’d collected before i had a sense of what i
wanted to use in the Story Cloths. It’s here and just Here. This
    will be perfect use.
