the beginning.  Close to a month ago.  Having NO idea what would come.  This is the point when it would have been easy to Kantha the light blue.   But i didn't know i might want to.  Because i had no idea what was next.

such small stitches in so small a space…especially the left,  or, the right side of the Cloth,  but it got stitched and i'm glad.  The FEEL of it is very Right,  both sensed and in the hand.  The Weight now is Right.

Als B's son Bill came to clean the chimney pipes of the wood stove.  He brought one of their dogs,  the little one,  a miniture doberman cross,  Nanno.  He tries to socialize her when he can.  So here is Tay,  who also needs practice with socialization and Nanno who is as big as her head,  socializing.  They were pretty much a success.  But for some unknown reason Nanno noticed the Crow way up on the dresser and decided it was a threat.  Would not stop barking until i brought it down and set it on a chair.   Noticing the dust,  i washed it and so,   the photo shoot…………

When we were in North Carolina last summer a cashier asked me if we had an immigrant “problem” in Texas … I very gently told her that the real problem was that people perceive immigration as problematic. “After all, I’m descended from immigrants,” I concluded.
The only way we’re ever going to get past “us” and “them” is to make the immigration issue meaningful on a personal level … I hope that maybe I helped change one mind anyway.
And I still love the cloth!

The kantha stitching is wonderful! The texture is just what the cloth needed. It looks great!
So Nanno summoned the crow down into your midst. There could be a something the crow needs to tell you.

You DID it and it IS wonderful kantha…I’m in awe. Gets dark in your place…real dark. I can just about make out the forms.
As for our President–though he needs all the help he can get, there’s not much we can actually DO…The ‘others’ are retaliating by suing his health care reform now, and I feel like I’m watching another fist fight in the playground.

..maybe we cannot “do” anything exactly..but you can write..write call..text ..whatever..your representatives..let them know how you feel..i am so tired of listening to the commentators tell us that obama is wrong, done, lame , left behind, left out..that he has been turned against by those who voted fot him..no one i actually know has said any of those things..they are appalled and upset..and tired and want to simply withdraw…they are angry and tired of the actions/non actions ..of watching Michelle’s ” playground fist fights “..oh i did not mean to sound political or angry here..i am simply sad..and at least i can do this small thing..give voice to how i feel..
i am smiling..as if in sympathy the man on the radio is talking about alice’s restaurant and what time it will be playing on thanksgiving…imagine…….grace apologies if i sound like someone with an agenda here..i am just sad with the reality of liz’s comment…gentle day to you

The eye. The eye. I gasped.
And “when things touch they seem to have more weight” written is in the Jude notebook. Yes. I love that insight.
And thinking about tensions, politics, us and them mentality. Ferguson is ongoing. It is not awfully far from me and I have been through that area. There was much tension there before the Michael Brown killing. I focus as much peace towards that situation as I can muster. It is a tiny planet. We are all related. We cannot meet on the streets in violence.

    Your stitching is very alive.
Tell Tay that I barked at K to dust something while I was in labor with Blue. A gourd that hadn’t been dusted in years.
We (fifty 5th graders, many of them are immigrants) are writing a play based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights & a book about a Mexican girl’s family coming to this country in 1924, it’s been great to have them thinking on this day after day.

Liz, on a personal level…yes. this is truest of true, but
some can’t Open enough to do this i guess…it is so interesting
that sense of us and them. It abounds in all forms. Here, my hispanic neighbors speak disparagingly of my Mexican neighbors, the
Indio neighbors and i assume vice versa. It has been one of the greatest teachings to me to be a minority where i live here. To
be very much NOT FROM HERE, an immigrant 20 some years ago…

i think it’s important to maintain an “agenda” but if we don’t
if we succumb, we then really not only Want to withdraw, we Do
withdraw and this is to me not an option. It is critical to remain
    IN the Fray
