the Mouse.   I really like to think there is just one.   But i know that most likely isn't so.  But here

because i was interrupted by a quick visit from the Greatest nurse Cindy,  i had left a bowl of food on the counter.  Chana Masala.   a VERY spicy chick pea dish.  Spicy and HOT.   Most of it is gone, and that hole in the Naan.  and then the tomatoe.  So i am hoping that he,  and i think of him as he,  ate himself to death.  a dietary challenge for a New Mexican mouse….very spicy Indian food with yogurt sauce.

i cooked the traditional holiday food,  Posole.   Hominy and pork.  red chile.  both dried and not.  More spice.  a big pot of it.  Enough for  many people.  I will eat it for a week.  You can't make Posole small.  Something about it demands a POT of it.  ok.

done.

i went to where Barbara and Magic live now.  Because they have eggs and i needed eggs.  Things got mixed up and no one was home.  So i wandered around and found them.  I am conflicted.  Their space is small.  There is no herd.  Just two Goats in a small space.  I cried.

But they came later to bring the eggs and again,  the talking,  the listening and smiling Man and it was the first time Tay was loose when they came and she did her Far Circling Thing a few times, but then came directly to Kelly and sat and put her face to Kelly's hand.

There is a need for Trust of things.  They do not have their Herd.  They do not have a Migratory Corridor.  But they  have a woman who very much wants them and walks with them to the Cottonwood trees three times a day.

They are what might be called very poor.  They are beginning with pretty much nothing just on land that he acquired from family.  I know that.  I came here and there was nothing.  She dreams so much more.  I know that too.   and so…well,  just and so.   Tomorrow eve i will put something,  i don't know what yet,  but put something on the Raft for Them.  Kelly, Cliff,  Thomas,  Noah,  Barbara, Magic, cats,  a horse,  chickens…their  Dreams.  I'll put Kelly's Dream on the Raft.  and hope.

Michelle gave me the word ………….. Seamlessly.

all day,  i think of Seamlessly.   Aspiring to Seamless.

Barbara and Magic will be comfort and inspiration to their new family, grace. that is big work for two dear animals and they will figure out how to do that.

i am thinking that this is true. that they will. She speaks of them so well, so lovingly. telling details of their walks to the Cottonwood trees, how Noah wanted Barbara to RUN with him and Barbara was …HUH?, Duh?…RUN?, but then she did and he was so
    Happy.
and how she loves Magic, because Magic seems willing to be HER goat, and Magic is really, her own goat, Jude’s Magic is her real name
and she is her own self, but she also GIVES to Kelly…enough, to keep Kelly wanting.

and i just talked to the grand daughter. How her mother’s dog (my daughter)
killed her guinea pigs. Her mother (my daughter) had left her dog in the
keeping of her daughter for a couple days and in those couple days the dog killed them. Guinea Pigs who were loose and free in their back yard. Dead now and the Granddaughter thinking. we talked. How if the old Buck Gideon were to be free, he would be taken down by some cheetah. Some wolf. Her guinea pigs were old and so had a full and truly elegant life. But still. You stand there (here) and
stare at the Whole of it.

I am moved. I feel for the fates of creatures including ourselves. I looked for this poem to send:
What do animals dream? by Yahia Lababidi
Do they dream of past lives and unlived dreams
    unspeakably human or unimaginably bestial?
Do they struggle to catch in their slumber
what is too slippery for the fingers of day?
    Are there subtle nocturnal intimations
    to illuminate their undreaming hours?
Are they haunted by specters of regret
do they visit their dead in drowsy gratitude?
Or are they revisited by their crimes
    transcribed in tantalizing hieroglyphs?
Do they retrace the outline of their wounds
    or dream of transformation, instead?
Do they tug at obstinate knots
    inassimilable longings and thwarted strivings?
Are there agitations, upheavals or mutinies
against their perceived selves or fate?
Are they free of strengths and weaknesses peculiar
to horse, deer, bird, goat, snake, lamb or lion?
Are they ever neither animal nor human
    but creature and Being?
Do they have holy moments of understanding
deep in the seat of their entity?
Do they experience their existence more fully
relieved of the burden of wakefulness?
Do they suspect, with poets, that all we see or seem
is but a dream within a dream?
Or is it merely a small dying
a little taste of nothingness that gathers in their mouths?

A Gaelic Winter Solstice blessing for all who come here and especially for Alyssia and Julian:
Deep peace of the running waves to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the shining stars to you,
Deep peace of the shades of night to you,
Moon and stars always giving light to you.

Gosh, that was a very hungry mouse or maybe he let the whole family know that dinner was on the table and they were quick to get it down!
hmmm… Tiki our family cat ate the next door neighbours’ guineau pig back in the 70’s… it was a very sad and embarrassing moment, my mother tried to make amends by buying them a new one but how can you replace a dead friend?
